Addition Battle for Azeroth became the fastest selling in history World of warcraft: By the time the heroes of Azeroth received news from Magni Bronzebeard and put their Azerite vacuum cleaner around their necks, more than 3,400,000 copies of the addon had already been sold. And there is every reason for that: a loud announcement during BlizzCon, flashy videos, exciting pre-patch events and, of course, allied races available only to the owners of the add-on. But the main factor, perhaps, was the long-forgotten sense of unity with their faction, expressed in the first cinematic trailers: “ For the Horde! For the Alliance!"And with a weapon so - wow!

But now new lands have been discovered, walked and explored, dungeons have been completed, crafts have been studied, battle pets have been defeated and collected. There are only a few days left until the opening of the first raid, the first PvP season and the first mythical dungeons. It's time to take a look at the entire starting state of "Battle for Azeroth" and try to understand whether it was worth it to rush to join these three and a half million.

Battle for motivation

For a long time we were not given the opportunity to face not with some "alien evil", but with a close, understandable and familiar enemy. And the preliminary events of "Battle for Azeroth" plunged us into an epic and bloody confrontation between the Horde and the Alliance. Ever wanted to fireball at Anduin or kick Saurfang's shoulder pads? Here they are, right in front of us, the former military comrades-in-arms, to whom accounts have accumulated over the years! Come on, neighbor, ready to answer for Theramore and Taurajo, for the homeless elves and oppressed orcs?

We've seen episodes that will forever change the history of World of Warcraft. Before our eyes, the sacred world tree Teldrassil has turned to ash. With our direct participation, the ruins of Lordaeron have become completely uninhabitable. After that, even fans of pet battles with all their hearts wanted retribution.

However, the overwhelming epic nature of what is happening has not completely hidden the plot holes and the lame motivation of the heroes. Why did Sylvanas suddenly decide to start a conflagration and why didn't she end the fight with Malfurion? How does Saurfang's attack in the back and his subsequent worries about it fit together? Why couldn't Jaina, who recently ended the Plague in a matter of seconds, freeze the Horde saboteurs in the same seconds? Finally, what was the princess of Zandalar doing in Stormwind Prison, and why did no one react to her escape? Why is there an escape, here the capital almost burned down, and no one even hinted about it, sending the Alliance fighters to Kul Tiras! Concerns arise: will the writers forget by the end of the add-on that Darnassus is no more?

To somehow patch up the holes, Blizzard even released two books of modest literary value. Well, what, players Overwatch it suits that the game is separate, and the plot is separate!

But the saddest plot failure took refuge in the skies. Fighters "Legion" remember what a powerful weapon the Vindicaar, a draenei spaceship, could have become. Why didn't Anduin Wrynn think of ending the Horde with a couple of well-aimed shots? Obviously, for the most compelling: the writers decided that the Vindicaar did not fit into the current plot, and they simply forgot about it. Yes, the battle between the Horde and the Alliance is more of a friendly match, and you cannot leave half the players victorious and half defeated. But it was possible, at least in passing, to mention some important mission of Velen or a catastrophic engine breakdown? Apparently, they decided not to waste energy. Go to the bushes, Vindicaar, grow the keys.

Battle for resources

Be that as it may, after an unsuccessful battle for both sides at Lordaeron, we will have to safely forget about the confrontation of the largest factions. The leaders of the Horde and the Alliance assessed the losses and concluded that the armies needed fresh blood. Our mission is to find new allies, convince them to forget about their own problems and line up under the banners of the desired color together with their fleet. It seems that somewhere we have already seen the same plot plot ... yes, the same melody played after the first unsuccessful attack on the Broken Shore!

Most of all, the first patches of Battle for Azeroth resemble the beginning of the Legion. And not only by the plot: on new continents, we are waiting for classes that are perfectly familiar from the previous addition - except in the economical version. The tactical map breaks down a single global mission into three smaller tasks (or six, if you count the scanty military campaign in foreign territories), and from the luxurious class strongholds the entire faction was moved to the ship's deck. Perhaps it is because of this that the comrades-in-arms have lost interest in us: now there are only five of them, each has only one slot for equipment, and none of them can be persuaded to join us in our adventures. And the resources of the class just changed their name - now they are "military" resources.

But the equipment system has been simplified (at least at first glance). In the same way, we accumulate power, collecting Azerite to improve equipment, but instead of several types of weapons, we have a single medallion, the level of which unlocks additional abilities on the obtained helmets, shoulder pads and breastplates. Saving time and effort, of course, is significant. But before, in addition to artifact weapons, we received as many as three epic storylines, one per specialization, and the druids even got four unique stories. Now, instead of all this wealth, you can only count on the inspiring speech of Magni Bronzebeard - the same for all races, classes and factions.

Heroes who have reached level 120 are included in a two-year journey: they begin to collect equipment. Here, as usual, there were pitfalls, randomness and an endless pursuit of perfection. The point is in those very additional abilities: not all of them are equally useful. The new Azerite Rings have carried some of the Legendary's abilities with powerful buffs, but it will take a lot of luck and many attempts to get one of the many varieties of things that combines all the desired talents.

Battle for reputation

But in the process of pumping, remarkably drawn locations, stuffed with quests and tasks, open up. Sometimes it is even too generous: if you have met a lonely warrior, there is no doubt that he has heels of requests hidden in his storehouse. And if you stumble upon a camp or a village, the number of orders will at least triple!

Most NPCs will be happy to explain to you how the confrontation between the Horde and the Alliance is connected with the urgent need to tear off two dozen tails from lizards or destroy pterodactyl nests. Some side effects are definitely worth going through - especially if you are a fan of mini-plots. For example, a plush tea party in Drustvar with a marvelous, albeit useless, reward. Or the story of a timid Brutosaurus, who needs to be matched, but all attempts by scientists to bring him to someone lead to an unexpected result.

We have to infiltrate a team of pirates and help dragons, deal with cultists and disrupt human sacrifices, arrange weddings and stab refugees with a needle, be horrified by losses and celebrate victories. We will get acquainted with new heroes and whole new tribes, including the Vulpera chanterelles singing about Speck and Dolly and the mysterious Setraki snakemen.

It's worth playing for the Horde or going through a military campaign on Zandalar at least in order to see Bwonsamdi himself in the role of the healer of souls - this death loa descends from the voodoo Baron of Saturday (aka Baron Samdi), and in the manner of communication resembles Ryuk from Death Note ". Every time he resurrects your hero, he lets out a snide joke.

But as regards the mechanics, you can not expect much abundance: most of the tasks are reduced to "kill, collect, use". Because of this, even chasing a cat stuck in a burning tower is perceived as a revelation and a gift.

But war is war, and local networks are on schedule. If you accelerate your run through storyline and side quests, this will mean only one thing: the earliest onset of the era of world quests, envoy tasks and earning reputation with new factions. The latter remains a key element of pumping: without a reputation, you will not see flights, new allied races, or useful gizmos.

DPS battle

New mechanics were tried to be implemented in island expeditions - these are special dungeons where a team of three players must manage to collect several thousand Azerite before NPCs or other users can. But here, too, the revolution did not happen: despite the procedural generation, the expeditions are rather monotonous. But in the list of possible trophies - mounts and pets, so the islands are unlikely to suffer the same fate as the scenarios of Pandaria. And it's always fun to compete with other players.

As for the new dungeons, they were great success. Unless, of course, you do not pay attention to the narrow corridors where problems with the camera begin, and mazes with nooks and crannies in which newcomers are constantly lost. Group instances look completely different, but have the same atmospheric and detailed design. It's not boring with bosses because of the variety of mechanics and the abundance of control, and the usual mobs guarding the approaches sometimes surprise with their ingenuity. Those newcomers will surely fray their nerves not only because of the labyrinths, but also because of the traps generously placed along the corridors. And in some dungeons, opponents are so dangerous that "high" keys for them, most likely, will remain unclaimed.

By the time the review appears on the website, the first raid, Uldir, is likely to have opened. "Keys" will appear: Mythic dungeons will acquire additional difficulty levels. And for those who will successfully cope with the new challenges, one of the main problems of the new addition will finally come to naught.

But to talk about her, you have to go back in time.

Battle for subscription

The principle of scaling works in some multiplayer games, and not only in arcade session action films. V The Elder Scrolls Online adjusting the level gives players the opportunity from the very first minutes to rush to the development of the most "fresh" lands and plots, and then, at their leisure, move to the ancestral territories in search of missed adventures.

WoW scaling appeared at the beginning of Legion in the Broken Isles and has swept the entire game over time, but it works differently. The world is divided into "small enclosures", between which the gates are built: 60th, 80th, 90th, 100th, 110th levels. It doesn't matter if you love Pandaria, you still won't see it until you get it. It doesn't matter if you like Draenor, it is inevitable, unless you decide to swing, gathering resources on the Timeless Isle.

There is nothing wrong with the idea of scaling, pitfalls are hidden in its implementation, and players of level 116-120 are most actively recalculating them with the bottoms of their ships. By this time, the effects of legendary items stop working, the epic armor of the "Legion" is almost completely replaced by the quest "green" and, if you're lucky, "blue" from the dungeons.

The Battle for Azeroth DLC is now available for pre-order in the in-game store! When you pre-order, you can immediately level up your character to 110 and embark on a quest for four new allied races coming in the expansion: Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Void Elves, and Nightborne. And for the development of an Allied Race character from level 20 to 110 * you will receive a special set of traditional armor - a true symbol of loyalty to Azeroth.

Whose side are you on?

The citizens of Azeroth have managed to repel a surprise attack by the Burning Legion. The victory came at a high price: many noble heroes fell in battle, the blade of Sargeras inflicted a heavy wound on the world. But there is an old split that will be even more difficult to overcome. The primordial mistrust between the Alliance and the Horde threatens to escalate into a new conflict - and no one can foresee how this will turn out for Azeroth. Now the heroes are for you! - you need to find new allies and fight for your faction. With arms in hand, you have to take part in a key episode of a longstanding confrontation.

This is not the time to sit back! Start preparing for battle now. Pre-order Battle for Azeroth, ride a gilded Ravasaur or a saltmane stallion, and go in search of allied races. Tell the whole of Azeroth what faction you are for, and get ready to meet the enemy fully armed.

When is Battle for Azeroth coming out?

The release of Battle for Azeroth will take place in the summer of 2018. The add-on will bring many new features to the game. In a fierce battle for the future of Azeroth, you will be on the front lines!

Pre-order the Battle for Azeroth Expansion Pack and go in search of new Allied Races!

* To get traditional armor, you need to develop your character without using the services of raising the level, changing the race or faction, and also NOT gaining levels through the "Invite a Friend!" Program.

** Not part of the pre-order. At the moment, the developers are working on expanding the number of slots for all players. The change is expected within the next weeks. Please stay tuned for news and updates.

So, the announcement of the new addition took place. Just a few hours before Blizzcon, information appeared on the Internet that the company had registered the name Battle for Azeroth. And so it happened. the long-awaited announcement was made. The new addition to World of Warcraft will be called Battle for Azeroth.

Battle for Azeroth - "Battle for Azeroth". When the news about the registration of the name was linked to me, I thought that "Battle for Azeroth" means the battle for the titan-woman Azeroth against the Old Gods. This was quite logical, because after the victory over the Burning Legion, the new enemies of all living will be the Lords of the Abyss and from the minions, the Old Gods. But it turned out that after a grueling and difficult battle with the hordes of Sargeras, the races of Azeroth did not unite to restore the "national economy", but again collided with their heads.

From the point of view of common sense, this is more than strange. Over the past decade, both factions have had common enemies, much more powerful than themselves. And more than once both factions opposed them, albeit on a divided front, but still opposed. In my opinion, this conflict of factions has long been an atavism that could be easily removed. But apparently they decided to do it differently.

The Horde burns Terdrassil, the capital of the night elves, to which the Alliance responds with an attack on Lordaeron. In short, a new round of the struggle for power over Azeroth begins.

So, what about the plot is clear, what about the content and innovations? The main news is outlined below:

  • Level cap raised to level 120;
  • Kul Tiras is the location where the characters of the Alliance will be pumped, and the Horde will be on Zandalar;
  • Kul Tiras is run by Jaina's mother: the widow Katrina Proudmoore;
  • Each of the islands is divided into three parts, which are ruled by their own factions. In the course of the development of the plot, we will have to get to know them and put things in order in the relationship;
  • Who are the Zandalari, I think, it is not necessary to tell for a long time, but if you are not in the know, then I advise you to read the corresponding section in the Chronicles;
  • The main characters of the add-on will be: young king Anduin, Sylvanna Windrunner, Jaina Proudmoore, we also learn something about Vol'jin and - surprise surprise - Thrall will return to us;
  • Since the battle is going to be serious, you need to collect all the allies you can. This is what explains the appearance;
  • Alliance Subraces: Lightforged Draenei, Dark Iron Dwarves, Void Elves;
  • Horde Subraces: Nightborne Elves, Highmountain Tauren, and Zandalari Trolls
  • New subraces will need to be "discovered" during the game, and not just buy an add-on;
  • After fulfilling the conditions for opening a subrace, they can be played, starting from the 20th level;
  • A new type of armor will appear that can be pumped and customized (something similar to artifacts, but not quite) using a necklace;
  • ... Traveling to the islands and the struggle for resources on them, and the opponents there will be not bags of loot, but something controlled by advanced artificial intelligence;
  • : content designed for 20 people, which will involve attacks on battle formations and enemy bases;
  • The scaling of zones will spread to the whole world as long as the plan for scaling zones is as follows (within these locations the level will adjust within certain limits):
    • starting zone: 0-10
    • classic zones: 10-60
    • Outland & Northrend: 60-80
    • Cataclysm and Pandaria: 80-90
  • Abolition of the division into PvP and PvE servers. The PvP flag can now be raised at will;
  • New arenas, battlefields and showdowns in Silithus;
  • Two raids have been voiced: Uldir, the Halls of Control, which will have 8 bosses, and an unnamed raid in which Queen Azshara will be the boss (obviously the main one).

If in large strokes, then that's all for now. Details are in the following materials.

It remains to wait for the next addition, already on August 14, 2018, players will again go to save the world in the name of the Horde or the Alliance. And maybe both at once.

Today we will try to consider at least some of the innovations in Battle for Azeroth (hereinafter referred to as BFA). The most important thing that keeps the game going is Azeroth's evolving storyline.

Spoiler alert!

What does ENT prepare for us?

Perhaps, almost all previous add-ons players were engaged in saving the world from universal threats and the like, but this time Blizzard decided to return, so to speak, to the original source. Namely, the confrontation between the factions.

The most significant events known so far are the burning of Teldrassil by Sylvanas Windrunner and the Alliance attack, led by Anduin Wrynn, on Lordaeron (Undercity) in response. It is believed that Sylvanas had no intention of destroying the tree, her only goal was to assassinate the main commanders of the forces, Tyrande and Malfurion. The latter managed to escape, but the house of the night elves was destroyed and is no longer accessible to the public, and the coast of the Darkshore location is strewn with ash.

Rumor has it that the leader of the Horde is planning an attack on Stormwind itself, the capital of the Alliance. However, not all Forsaken subjects agree with this move, so all freethinkers organize themselves into a separate secret circle ... What awaits Sylvanas, success or a knife in the back?

New travel lands

For both factions, locations will be added, on which adventures will take place. For the Alliance, this is Kul Tiras Island, which in turn is divided into Stormsong Valley, Tiragarde Sound and Drustvar. Kul Tiras is inhabited by indigenous peoples (Drust), arrived humans and pirates. Outwardly, the island is a hilly and wooded area.

Horde territory is located on the jungle continent of Zandalar, with the locations Vol'dun, Nazmir and Zuldazar. Overgrown with vines and other tropical flora, the island is inhabited by various prehistoric animals and Zandalar trolls, as well as tribes of blood trolls. Vol'dun is inhabited by two wild beasts - outlandish fox-men and snake-men.

Where do the artifacts go

For already three add-ons, one or more items of legendary quality have been an integral part of the player's equipment, around which the plot of the game partially revolved. Battle for Azeroth in this sense will be no exception, and it seems that this trend will never go out of fashion among developers.

We had legendary cloaks, rings, weapons and even stones for inlay, and now it's time for a necklace. It is called the Heart of Azeroth and works on the same principle as artifact weapons now - it accumulates power due to the collected Azerite (a new super-resource allocated by Azeroth itself from its bowels due to the incessant wars between the Horde and the Alliance). With its help, it will also be possible to enhance some equipment.

Weapons from the current addon will sink into oblivion. You will have to part with him by going through the chain of tasks, and the abilities of the artifact will go into the skills and spells of the player.

New Allied Races

New allies will join both factions, two races for each. The Horde was able to befriend the Nightborne and Highmountain Tauren, and the Lightforged Draenei and Abyss Elves came to the aid of the Alliance. These races are already available in the game, subject to the purchased pre-order. After the release of BFA, two more faction races will be added - Zandalari Trolls and Maghar Orcs, Dark Iron Dwarves and People of Kul Tiras. But not the fact that this will happen immediately after the release. No addon has so many races added! Each race naturally has its own unique transport and druidic skins (for tauren and trolls), as well as a whole bunch of racial abilities. Especially the distinctive Druid Forms of the Zandalari Trolls. To gain access to new races, you also need to complete special tasks.

A brief overview of other innovations

  • Increased the maximum level, which is quite expected, to 120.
  • The system of equipment levels has been revised.
  • Class buffs are back. Besides the shamans, the guys were not lucky.
  • Inside the game, you can create and join thematic communities (cross-server). Now it will be easier to find a group by achievement!
  • The First Aid profession will be removed. Hurry up to complete the related achievements, which will go to the Legacy section.
  • Such exotic modes of transport as a toad and a bee (and many other oddities) will be added.
  • Expansion of space in the stables of hunters and new types of pets (you can finally tame the unicorn, we've been waiting for this for two years!).
  • New achievements for the number of exalting factions and mounts (now it makes sense to collect all of them).
  • All loot will now be personal. Unbelievable but true.
  • New battlegrounds, raids and dungeons - all of this, of course, will be.

What you need to do before the release of Battle for Azeroth

All the achivmen are now busy making up for everything that for some reason they did not manage to do - received during the second invasion of the Legion. What will be unavailable in BFA and need to be in time now?

Get achievements from the profession First Aid, it was decided to remove it as unnecessary. Well, in fact, in our that century to be treated with bandages? Now one of the longest achievments [Are there doctors here?], Since to complete it you need to knock out a whole bunch of items with a low drop chance from mobs. Players are teaming up to do it together, which means faster.

Complete achievements such as Glory to the Raider while they are more or less relevant and are of interest to a larger number of players. For them you can get titles and mounts.

Become the undisputed champion in the Fighting Arena or Challenge Arena before it starts a new season! Some achievements can only be obtained with the help of friends, now a lot of players are busy with the same, so finding a group will not be difficult.

Complete your class challenge at Mage Tower on the Broken Shore to earn an Artifact Skin and Achievement.

The Shore of the Ancients and Ashran battlefields will be removed, and the achievement associated with them will be transferred to the Great Deeds section. So if you are a PvP lover then hurry up.

Complete the Trial of Valor raid on Mythic difficulty and earn the [The Chosen] achievement, the title of the same name, and the Raiment of the Chosen Dead transmog set. To complete this task, you will need to kill the last boss without ever dying during the entire raid! Once BFA is released, the achievement will no longer be available.

Get the Violet Spellwing Transport, which can be obtained by killing Argus the Unmaker on Heroic difficulty. You will get a personal loot in the form of an item starting a quest for a mount. In the next addon, the item will no longer fall.

A couple more mounts, which can be obtained after the start of BFA, but with a 1% chance - Villainous Hellfire Core and Tamed Ur'zul. They are now dropped with a 100% chance on Mythic difficulty from the last bosses of the Night Citadel and Antorus, the Burning Throne. But only one for the entire raid.

Farm the Sightless Eye in the Dalaran Sewer until it is completely empty. Otherwise, in the future, you will have to knock them out only from a few monsters, which will complicate the task, or rather, make it much more time-consuming. These eyes can be used to purchase various items, including the unique Mount Rat Horse and the Jellyfish Companion.

Build a reputation with the Revenge of the Claw faction while there are more options available. After all, this can only be done in special zones of the Legion, killing other players, and after the release of the next update, these locations will be empty. In addition to +1 to the number of exalted, you will receive a mount.

You will learn about the most important things to know before playing Battle for Azeroth.

Plot

The events of Battle for Azeroth begin immediately after the Legion expansion, when Azeroth stopped the Burning Legion's invasion by defeating Argus. Yet the Alliance and Horde have not forgotten old disputes, and the conflict flares up with renewed vigor. The reason for the contention is the struggle for Azerite, a resource that emerged after the battle with the Legion.

In a new battle, the Alliance attacks the Undercity, and Teldrassil is burned down by the Horde. After that, the factions will begin to prepare for a large-scale war, going in search of allies in the lands of the Great Sea. The Alliance will join the sea state of Kul Tiras, and the Horde will form an alliance with the empire of Zandalar, the ancestral home of the trolls. ...

Heroes of the Alliance will explore Kul Tiras, where they will fight against pirates, mysterious sea priests, as well as dark magic. All actions will take place in three locations: Tiragarde Sound, Drustvar and Stormsong Valley.

The Horde will travel to the Zandalari Empire, where they will have to fight maddened cult trolls, giant dinosaurs and the creations of the titans. The heroes will travel to three locations: Zuldazar, Nazmir and Vol "dun.

War Front is a 20-player co-op with classic RTS mechanics like Warcraft III. First, players set up a camp by building forges, armories, barracks, and so on. Then an army is created to defeat the enemy leader. To win, you need to break through to the enemy and defend your own lines. And don't forget that there are goblin traders or other random NPCs on the map.

Gameplay innovations

The developers will remake the ability to massively stun enemies. They will also remove artifact weapons, but do not rush to lose heart, because their abilities will be distributed between talents and spells. In addition, the weapon will not be removed just like that, and the player will have to go through a chain of tasks to turn it into an ability.
