Implementation of AR in the realities of 2017
Quality mobile games have long been happy with the graphics of the highest level - this is especially noticeable on a relatively small iPhone 7 screen.
Therefore, I was not ready for frankly mediocre the implementation of The Machines, which from the scene of Steve Jobs theater looked just stunningly.
Impressions from this mobile entertainment using augmented reality can safely compare with modern virtual reality - even "adult".
The same PlayStation VR demonstrates a noticeably weaker picture than the one at which modern Sony consoles are generally capable - the same situation with HTC VIVE and other similar devices.

But I still doubt it very much - the technology is still quite raw.
Why the Machines game did not go
Augmented reality based on Apple platform in applications, we still have to be fully tested - today there are practically no sensible solutions in this direction.
But my interest in mobile games using AR disappeared quickly.
The Machines example showed me that the format itself of such entertainment is weakly combined using on smartphones.
Since the playing field in the game was located on the table in front of me, I had to run around it, constantly bent to look somewhere and so on.
Already after five to ten minutes of the battles, it was frankly tired of me - to pass some traditional Moba (for example, the same Vainglory), lying on the couch, much more pleasant.
Perspectives on mobile devices
After acquaintance with the first game, which is entirely tied to the use of the Apple's Augmented Reality Platform, I came to the conclusion - this approach has no right to life.
To use augmented reality in its form today, I want not as a full-fledged game, but only as part of the elements in ar.
If we take an example of The Machines, with the help of AR, it would be possible to evaluate the possibilities of robots, tuning and re-equip them - for stressful battles, a supplemented reality is not suitable.
But mobile applications using augmented reality seem to me a much more promising check.
