First, check if your PC meets the minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 (SP1) /8/8.1/10
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 / AMD Phenom X3 8750
  • Memory: 4 GB
  • Video: Intel HD Graphics 4600 / NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB / AMD HD 4870 1GB
  • HDD: 5 GB
  • DirectX: 10

Be sure to update your graphics card drivers and other software

Before you remember the worst words and express them towards the developers, do not forget to go to the official website of the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers. Often, drivers specially optimized for them are prepared for the release of games. You can also try installing a later version of the drivers if the problem is not resolved by installing the current version.

It is important to remember that you should only download the final versions of video cards - try not to use beta versions, as they may contain a large number of not found and not fixed errors.

Don't forget that games often require installation to run smoothly. latest version DirectX, which can always be downloaded from the official Microsoft website.

Red Alliance not starting

Many problems with the launch of games happen due to incorrect installation. Check if there were any errors during the installation, try uninstalling the game and running the installer again, after disabling the antivirus - files that are often needed for the game to work are deleted by mistake. It is also important to remember that on the path to the folder with installed game there should be no Cyrillic characters - use only Latin letters and numbers for catalog names.

It still does not hurt to check if there is enough space on the HDD for installation. You can try to run the game as Administrator in compatibility mode with different versions of Windows.

Red Alliance crashes. Low FPS. Lags. Friezes. Hangs

First, install fresh drivers on the video card, from this the FPS in the game can significantly increase. Also check the workload of the computer in the task manager (opened by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE). If, before starting the game, you see that a process is consuming too many resources, turn off its program or simply end this process from the task manager.

Next, go to the graphics settings in the game. First of all, turn off anti-aliasing and try lowering the post-processing settings. Many of them consume a lot of resources and turning them off will significantly increase performance without significantly affecting the picture quality.

Red Alliance crashes to the desktop

If Red Alliance often crashes to the desktop, try to reduce quality of the graphics. It is possible that your computer simply lacks performance and the game may not work correctly. Also worth checking out for updates - most modern games have a system automatic installation new patches. Check if this option is disabled in the settings.

Black of black screen in the Red Alliance

The most common black screen issue is a GPU issue. Check if your video card satisfies minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is due to insufficient CPU performance.

If everything is fine with the hardware and it meets the minimum requirements, try switching to another window (ALT + TAB), and then returning to the game window.

Red Alliance is not installed. Installation hangs

First of all, check if you have enough HDD space for installation. Remember that for the installation program to work correctly, the declared amount of space is required, plus 1-2 gigabytes of free space on the system drive. In general, remember the rule - the system disk should always have at least 2 gigabytes of free space for temporary files. Otherwise, both games and programs may not work correctly or refuse to start at all.

Installation problems can also occur due to lack of internet connection or unstable operation. Also, do not forget to suspend the antivirus during the installation of the game - sometimes it interferes with the correct copying of files or deletes them by mistake, considering it as viruses.

Saves not working in Red Alliance

By analogy with the previous solution, check the availability of free space on the HDD - both on the one where the game is installed and on the system disk. Often, save files are stored in the documents folder, which is located separately from the game itself.

Controls not working in Red Alliance

Sometimes in-game controls do not work due to the simultaneous connection of multiple input devices. Try disconnecting your controller, or if for some reason you have two keyboards or mice connected, leave only one pair of devices. If your controller does not work, then remember - officially only controllers that are defined as Xbox joysticks support games. If your controller is defined differently, try using programs that emulate Xbox joysticks (for example, x360ce).

Sound does not work in Red Alliance

Check if the sound works in other programs. After that, check if the sound is muted in the settings of the game itself and if the audio playback device to which your speakers or headset is connected is selected. Next, while the game is running, open the mixer and check if the sound is muted there.

If you are using an external sound card- check for new drivers on the manufacturer's website.

GAMES Cold Symmetry has announced its first project, Mortal Shell, which combines Souls-style combat and RPG elements to improve weapons and skills, as well as an open, non-linear world ...

First you need to go to the folder with the game files. The easiest way to do this is to right-click on the shortcut on your desktop and select "File Location".

Now you will have a folder with the game files. In it you need to find the files "ra2.ini" and "ra2md.ini". The first one corresponds to the game Red Alert 2, the second one corresponds to the Yuri "s Revenge expansion. Therefore, you need to do the same actions in both files.

These files appear after the first launch of the respective games. If you don't have them yet, run the game at least once and they should appear.

Open the file "ra2md.ini" using any text editor such as Notepad and insert the following line into the section:

VideoBackBuffer = no

If you want to change the screen resolution in the game, in the same place, next to it, change the ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight values (I have them set to 1920 and 1080, respectively).

Everything is as shown in the screenshot:

Save the file. Make similar changes to ra2.ini.

Everything! You can start the game, it shouldn't slow down anymore!

Red Alert 2 Yuri "s Revenge crashes

If your game crashes, NPatch may help you.

Download the first file from the list and install. After that, it should not take off.

For some reason, Google Chrome and Firefox swear at this file as malicious. This is a false positive as Virustotal says everything is ok. And I also put it on my own, everything is in order. Although the matter is, of course, yours, I am not trying to persuade anyone in any way.

How to run Red Alert 2 on Windows 7-8.1

Good day, I want to share how to start the old one, but not all forgotten game Command Conquer Red Alert 2 on Windows 7,8.1 operating systems. To do this, we need a clean game client, install the game, after which we create a shortcut to the game.exe file from the root folder. In the shortcuts we created, go to the properties, after which in the file path tab we add -win separated by a space, for example, this is how our path looked like " C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Red Alert 2 \ Game.exe "after we add it it should look like this" C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Red Alert 2 \ Game.exe "-win

Go ahead, in the compatibility tab, select the windows xp sp 2 compatibility mode, it is more suitable for the requirements of this game in the parameters, put a tick on the reduced color mode and select a 16-bit color. Note on monitors high resolution, the game does not start in Full Screen.

Run Red Alert 2.exe and then the usual installation After the installation is over, go to the root directory of the game and find the file there: Ra2.exe or Ra2md.exe; to launch the regular version or "Yuri's Revenge", respectively, and click on it with the right mouse button, where we select the item "fix compatibility issues"

we select this item, a window appears in which some processes automatically occur and two diagnostic options appear. Select "program diagnostics"

Then, from the possible problems presented to us, we select "the program worked in previous versions Windows but won't install or start now "

A choice of other OS versions appears, and of course we select Windows XP sp2 or sp3 (runs on both)

This method has been tested on Windows 7 Home basic 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

C&C: Red Alert - problem solving

Recently I was drawn to the good old rts of the C & C series ... But with Red Alert (1) several problems arose, which I will try to help avoid. So, you have two images of the game disc. However, there will likely be an error when trying to install; you can set the compatibility mode with Windows 95 in the properties of the file being launched, but on 64-bit Windows this will not help either. Therefore, after mounting the disk image (this can be done, for example, using the DAEMON Tools Lite program), the easiest way is to use the Red Alert Setup Manager 0.98 software, you can download it here.

Unpack, run, select the functions you need and the path to install the game, click Apply. That's it, now it remains only to set the compatibility mode with Windows 95 for the RA95.exe file and you can play. To complete the campaign for allies, you need to mount the first disc, and for advice, respectively, the second.

However, in the game itself, for some reason, I got graphical bugs, glitches in different colors of menus, videos, shadows, effects ... You can play, but, of course, it is unpleasant and ugly. Perhaps this only happens on Windows 7 64-bit. I hardly found a solution to the problem, it turned out that for some reason the explorer.exe process interferes with the game. So if you have the same problem and you are an experienced user, try the following: start the game, minimize it (Alt + Tab); open the task manager (Ctrl + Shift + ESC or select it after pressing ctrl + alt + del), end the explorer.exe process (attention, it is responsible for Explorer and your taskbar will disappear!); switch back to the game (Alt + Tab). Sometimes glitches do not disappear right away, try switching back and forth a few more times. After the game, open the task manager, click on file - new task (run), type explorer.exe, OK. Everything should be the same.

There were no problems with Red Alert 2, except for the error "*** FATAL *** String Manager Failed to Initialize Properly", if you have one, then run the game as administrator or change the security settings for the executable file. Also check if the "Read-only" attribute is on the game folder, uncheck it. If you are trying to start the game from a "regular" profile in Win 7, ask the administrator to give full access to the game folder. It looks something like this

If all else fails, try playing Yuri's Revenge, according to reviews, there are no such problems with it.

P.S. Perhaps some solutions will be suitable for future games in the series.

Sometimes RED.EXE and other EXE system errors can be related to problems in the Windows registry. Several programs can share the same RED.EXE file, but when these programs are uninstalled or changed sometimes orphaned (invalid) EXE registry entries are left behind.

Basically, this means that while the actual path to the file may have changed, its incorrect former location is still recorded in the Windows registry. When Windows tries looking up these incorrect file references (file locations on your PC), RED.EXE errors can occur. In addition, malware infection may have corrupted the registry entries associated with MSDN Disc 0020. Thus, these invalid EXE registry entries must be repaired to fix the root of the problem.

Manually editing the Windows registry to remove invalid RED.EXE keys is not recommended unless you are PC service professional. Errors made while editing the registry can make your PC inoperable and cause irreparable damage to your operating system... In fact, even a single comma in the wrong place can prevent your computer from booting!

Because of this risk, we highly recommend using a trusted registry cleaner such as %% product %% (Developed by Microsoft Gold Certified Partner) to scan and repair any RED.EXE-related registry problems. Using a registry cleaner automates the process of finding invalid registry entries, missing file references (like the one causing your RED.EXE error), and broken links within the registry. Before each scan, a backup is automatically created, allowing you to undo any changes with one click and protecting you from possible damage to your computer. The best part is that fixing registry errors can dramatically improve system speed and performance.

A warning: Unless you are an experienced PC user, we do NOT recommend manually editing the Windows Registry. Incorrect use of Registry Editor can lead to serious problems and require you to reinstall Windows. We do not guarantee that malfunctions resulting from misuse Registry Editor can be eliminated. Your use of the Registry Editor is at your own risk.

To manually repair your Windows registry, first you need to create a backup by exporting a portion of the registry related to RED.EXE (eg.MSDN Disc 0020):

  1. Click on the button To begin.
  2. Enter " command" in search bar ... DO NOT PRESS YET ENTER!
  3. Holding the keys CTRL-Shift on the keyboard, press ENTER.
  4. A dialog box for access will be displayed.
  5. Click on Yes.
  6. The black box opens with a blinking cursor.
  7. Enter " regedit" and press ENTER.
  8. In the Registry Editor, select the RED.EXE-related key (eg.MSDN Disc 0020) you want to back up.
  9. On the menu File choose Export.
  10. In the list Save to select the folder where you want to save the MSDN Disc 0020 backup key.
  11. In field File name enter a name for your backup file, such as "MSDN Disc 0020 Backup".
  12. Make sure in the box Export range value selected Selected branch.
  13. Click on Save.
  14. The file will be saved with the extension .reg.
  15. You now have a backup of your RED.EXE-related registry entry.

The next steps for manually editing the registry will not be described in this article, as they can most likely damage your system. If you would like more information on manually editing the registry, please see the links below.
