The world map in the interior of a nursery is a universal idea for a child's room of any gender and age, which can harmoniously fit into the overall design concept from leo-gk.com.

The world map in the interior of the nursery performs not only a decorative, but also an educational function. Examining states and continents, the child gets to know our planet, remembers the names of cities and countries, comes up with fascinating stories about distant travels. On the world map, you can mark the places you have already visited, or the corners that you are just planning to visit.

Types of world maps in the interior of the nursery

In order for your child to study his planet with interest, create for him a bright, clear, large-scale composition that attracts attention and as if inviting him to distant wanderings.

There are several varieties of world maps in the interior:

  • political with marked borders of regions and states, names of capitals and large settlements;
  • physical, showing the unevenness of the earth's surface;
  • thematic, containing different information about the population, minerals, animals, plants, etc.

You can also use not only a modern, scientifically accurate image, but also a stylized one. vintage drawing, and even a fantasy abstract composition. An excellent alternative to the world map in the interior of a nursery can be a diagram of the streets of your hometown or district. With its help, the child learns about everything that is outside the house, and learns to better navigate in the surrounding space.

Options for the execution of world maps in the interior of the nursery

If you do not want to spend a lot of time decorating the space, use ready-made solutions. An excellent option is wall murals, which can be used to paste over one or several walls in the room. The main thing is that they are created using high-quality hypoallergenic paints that are safe for health.

Of course, you can always buy a ready-made geographic map of the world in the store. To prevent the room from becoming like a school office, purchase a set of bright buttons and markers with which the child can mark any place, playing and fantasizing.

The most original and spectacular maps of the world in the interior of the nursery are created by hand. Cope with the task is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. It is enough just to prepare a few stencils in the shape of continents and stock up on brushes, paints, felt-tip pens and patience. The outlines of countries and continents can be formed even from the figures of animals living in a particular region, by cutting them out of books and gluing them to the wallpaper. Invite your child to participate in the design: what could be more fun than drawing on the wall!

Choosing such an unusual decor, make sure that the rest of the space is not overloaded with unnecessary details. The color scheme of the image should be combined with the shades of furniture and textiles. A little trick: to make the room look more spacious, choose two-tone options, made in pastel colors. The unfilled contours of the continents, applied to a monochromatic surface, look spectacular in the interior of the nursery. The world map in the interior of a nursery is a great gift for a child!

A traveler lives in the soul of each of us. And even though not everyone manages to make a trip around the world, we still dream about it and, as far as possible, visit other countries. Geographic maps in the interior can be viewed endlessly. World maps not only give aesthetic pleasure from contemplation, but also create a light atmosphere of romance and adventure, evoke pleasant thoughts about distant countries and memories of your trips. We offer you to see how you can use world maps in the interior of the house.

1. Geographic maps in the interior as wallpaper

The geographic map on the wall will become the central decorative element of the interior of the room. Today we will not consider the standard option of placing a small world map on a wall in a frame or simply pinned down with buttons. But if you have a large geographic map, then you can completely paste over the wall with it. In addition, now you can buy or order a photo wallpaper with your chosen image or vinyl decorative wall stickers. Interior maps can be modern, vintage nautical or abstract stylized. It can be a map of the world, parts of the world, countries, cities, or a metro map. Most often, the walls of the bedroom are decorated with the image of the world map, but you can decorate the walls in this way in any room - bathroom, nursery, living room or kitchen. You can use a variety of themed kids wall stickers.

A very interesting option for a children's room. Climbing hooks are fixed on the wall with a geographic map, and soft mats under them.

Pay attention to the card - it is made in the fantasy style and, moreover, it is “inverted”. Instead of continents, there are oceans, and kingdoms are located in the place of water spaces.

For interiors with modern Art Nouveau and high-tech styles, stylized images of the continents in the form of dots, lines, letters and other artistic techniques are suitable.

2. Geographic maps in the interior in the design of the floor and ceiling

If wall decor with geographical maps is quite common, then you can rarely find such a floor or ceiling design. Nevertheless, this is also an interesting and original option. Don't turn the whole room into a world map. If you decide to decorate the floor with cards, you do not need to decorate both the walls and the ceiling with them, it is enough to support the general theme small maps world in frames on the wall or in accessories.

Although here is an interesting solution when the photo wallpaper with the image of a geographical map smoothly transitions to the ceiling. But in this case, so as not to overdo it, there are no more items with maps in the room.

3. Decor of doors and windows with world maps

Geographic maps in the interior can be present as curtains or blinds on the windows. They can be made either by hand or ordered from manufacturers.

4. Furniture with geographical maps

You can decorate different furniture with world maps. Geographic maps are no longer just maps, turning into a decorative covering of cabinets, dressers and other pieces of furniture. As a rule, a paper card is glued to furniture using decoupage technique. And it looks much more interesting than just hanging the map on the wall.

Any chest of drawers with card decor will turn out to be unique. You can either completely cover the entire surface of the chest of drawers, or arrange only the drawers.

You can decorate cabinet doors in the same way.

And in this chair and table there is decoupage in its purest form. All furniture details are covered with geographic maps, from the legs to the crossbars on the back.

5. Lamps with geographical maps

The world maps, illuminated from the inside by a lamp, acquire three-dimensionality and look very unusual. But glue geographic Maps better for factory shades and lampshades for safety reasons, and even cover everything with a fire-fighting compound for fabric or wood.

6. Geographic maps in the design of interior items

Many small items and accessories will support the geographic theme of the interior. Pictures and photo frames, boxes and stands, watches and dishes - you can paste over all this with cards or make decoupage. Nowadays, the time of active use of GPS navigators paper maps roads became practically unnecessary. Therefore, you can easily collect from friends and acquaintances different cards and make a lot of cute and useful things for the interior out of them.

This is one of several map drawing tutorials I am creating for an awesome group that I am helping to grow.

If you used this lesson, tell me, show me, I would love to see what you did! And feel free to ask questions too!

For this tutorial you will need a font. Booter Zero Five(see the link at the end of the lesson).

This map making tutorial assumes (made up) maps that look more like fantasy or pirate maps. They have no environmental elements. If you want to create a map for your world / just like that / or for something else, you will receive it, in just one hour of work!

Before you start ... you will need Photoshop, a map file, and a font (see the link at the end of the tutorial). It would also be nice to have a scanned photo of some landscape on your computer that you would like to depict. I used Photoshop CS3 Extended to create my map. I also used brushes for some of the work steps.

STEP 1

Take a close look at this screenshot. Don't forget to Save as ... and create a layer for the background.

STEP 2

Click on the picture to see the image in full size and 100% quality.

If you have a sketch, scan it or open a photo. Open it in a separate PS file, increase its brightness if necessary (Image - Correction - Brightness / Contrast) (Image - Adjustments - Brighten / Contrast). Insert the image by dragging and dropping it onto the map file. You can resize the image in two ways: either by clicking Edit - Transform - Resize (Edit - Transform - Scale), or holding the SHIFT key, pull the diagonal arrows that will appear at the corners of the image.

STEP 3

Regardless of whether you imported the image or not, create a new layer on top of the Map layer, grab a paintbrush and start painting your landscape. Better to make it slightly larger than the image itself.

STEP 4

After completing the sketch, grab the Eraser and go over the outer edges of the sketch. They will be crooked and out of bounds, so you will need to walk along these lines several times to clean everything up. If you want to make islands, do them now.

STEP 5

Click on the picture to see the image in full size and 100% quality.

Now you can grab the quick selection tool and select everything outside of your landmass. After that, we start to wash even more; no continent or country is perfectly straight, round or angular. Let's add debris, depressions and cracks all over our map! = P Also, add some non-ideal-shaped rivers and lakes. Your people will definitely need water to survive!

STEP 6

Click on the picture to see the image in full size and 100% quality.

Population! Open the Cities group and make the Capitol ... or rather the Capital (capital turned into capitol by mistake) and the town visible. The capital is circled in red. You will probably have more than one settlement / city / village / etc., And here's how to duplicate them: click the second mouse button on the layer with the town (town) and select Duplicate layer / Duplicate layer in the list that will appear. New town will appear on top of your original city. Remember this for the next step!

STEP 7

Open the landscape group. You have a choice of more realistic and freehand-like objects. To keep your picture from looking ridiculous, use only one of these styles. You can place these objects wherever you want, you can also duplicate (multiply) them. When you "plant" trees on your site, place mountains, rocks and forests, consider environment if you haven't already. Civilization and vegetation, for example, usually appear where there are water sources. If you need to resize something, use the technique described in STEP 2.

STEP 8

Click on the picture to see the image in full size and 100% quality.

Open the Text group. It contains the following layers: river / forest name, town name, and continent name. You can use a wider variety of fonts (eg Calibri for forest names, Juice for country names, etc.). The easiest way to make the font fit in is to create a duplicate original text, and change its font. Next, play with the effects. In this case, the outer glow and drop shadow look very good here. Don't forget to give names to all worlds, continents, countries, regions, states, villages, settlements, cities, capitals, oceans, rivers, lakes, mountains and plains. You don't have to name every detail on the map, but it will be eye-catching.

And you're done! WOW! Well, at least not unless you really want to make your card something one of a kind. If you still want to ...

ACCESS TO A NEW LEVEL IS OPEN !!

SUPER DRUPER EFFECTS

The following is optional, but it contains some information to help you improve your map.

Card Paper

If you want more focus and texture on your map, you can change the background! First, create a new layer on top of the map layer. Take a brush, pick white, and go. Personally, I like scatter brushes for this business, but you can use any others, for example, with coins, ships, animals, plants, etc.

Take a look at the screenshot below, where you can see the changes after brushing. If you are using a diffuse brush (or any other brushes with unusual patterns), paint over the entire surface of the map with it so that there are no empty spaces.

Add Brightness

Is your map not bright enough for you? Click Image - Adjustments and you will be presented with the following options: Hue / Saturation, Brightness / Contrast and Curves, which are the best adjustment options for our map. Go ahead and experiment! Please note the difference between this screenshot and the one above. Thanks to the Brightness / Contrast correction.

Direction Arrows

No decent map is complete without a compass!

Place the compass layer under the landscape layer group. Place it in an area where there is no sushi, resizing if necessary. I also like to add all kinds of effects to the compass. Experiment! In the screenshot you can see my favorite settings (the words highlighted with a "marker" are the names of various effects).

Watermark - protection from paranoid (me, inclusive). Watermarks can protect your work from theft. If you have your own signature - or even if you want to use your name, e-mail, page address on dA - you can add it. Create a new layer (regular or text). All you have to do is add a watermark to a new layer, resize it and reduce the Opacity, or leave it however you like. Speaking of watermarks and likes ... this whole tutorial is watermarked ... don't even bother stealing it!

Also, if you want to create paths and signs on the map to give it an ADVENTURE flavor, just add a new layer on top of the land layer, grab a paintbrush, select a color close to the map color, and paint! You can also use humorous brushes like the sea dragon in my map.

A wall-to-wall map is every kid's dream. Perhaps, each of us in childhood explored the seas and lands, drawing a pencil over the pages of thick geographical atlases. Now the whole world can be embraced with one glance.

The wall of a young child's room can be decorated with a bright, stylized card (available for sale for £ 167). For an older baby, you can choose a card that matches the overall color of the room.

Teenagers who are only dreaming of how to run away from home will like this card.

You may well limit yourself to an ordinary physical card, especially if it matches the interior in color. It will also be beneficial - you will learn more about the world without leaving your home.

Place a map of your favorite city on the wall - and you will be even better orientated in it.

And don't be afraid to match the card to the furniture color. You can order a suitable option, for example, on the website wallpapered.com.

For the scientific approach to everything, we would recommend turning to more rigorous images. Less color, more detail and legend.

If you are interested in the history of a country or city, place your favorite old map on the wall.

We would advise fans of urbanism living here and now to decorate the wall with an aerial photography frame.

A map of city blocks in gray tones will perfectly fit into a loft ...

... well, an image on a black background or something monochrome will adorn the most austere interior.

The bright outlines of the continents may well become a color spot in the interior.

You can draw the map yourself: a jar of gold paint - and a new detail appears in the interior of the lover of gloss. As a role model, you can take this beautiful
