Treasure map coloring book. DIY antique pirate map. Competition "pirate dances"

In modern culture, not a single canonical image of a pirate is complete without such an attribute as a treasure map. It is thanks to their wealth that pirates have received a fair share of their popularity. A free sea wolf, who has been in the very hell and has borrowed hundreds or thousands of gold coins, secretly hiding them on one of the islands of the archipelago, simply cannot but arouse interest... And it doesn't matter that most of these stories about treasures are just a myth, because even a well-thought-out invention presented on the pages of a book can win the hearts of many readers, Stevenson, one of the first to mention a treasure map in his work, is a vivid example of this.

Place marked with a cross on maps

Pirate maps with a cross marked where the treasure is buried is one of the most famous pirate attributes, but it is a complete fiction, the invention of which would be indebted to Robert Louis Stevenson and his. His stepson, Lloyd Osborne, wrote: “Armed with paints, I painted the island that I had painted before. Stevenson walked in as I was finishing, and with genuine interest and love for everything I did, he leaned over my shoulder. Soon he was already working on the individual details of the map and giving them names. I will never forget the excitement that gripped me when the skeleton of the Skeletons, the Spyglass Hill appeared on it, and the delight that squeezed my heart when three red crosses were inscribed one after another! But I experienced even greater delight when he wrote “Treasure Island” in the upper right corner. What a fairy tale it will be! " - I exclaimed. " Over the next three days, Stevenson wrote the first chapters of this work, which has become a classic of the pirate novel.

Pirate Treasure Chests

The treasure chest present in all pirate novels is just a tribute to the legends.... Yes, the pirates came across jewelry, but generally the loot was much more prosaic. Pirates usually took away what they could eat, drink, or sell quickly. Among other treasures valued by pirates were good clothes, spices, cotton bales, corned beef, weapons, ropes, slaves. All this, of course, could not be hidden in a chest and buried in reserve.

The son at school was given interesting task- make a treasure map. Now I will tell you how we did it and what we got.

To make our map look like an ancient one, we decided to age the paper. Here's how to do it. You need to brew strong tea, about 4-5 teaspoons per half liter jar. Cover and let sit until cool.

Then wrinkle the A4 sheet, making a lump. Put it in a jar with tea leaves for 20 - 30 minutes, then fish it out and carefully spread it out on a tray. Let the paper dry and iron with an iron.

Then I cut off the edges of the leaf to create a torn edge effect.

Well, they also burned it over a candle. A little - a little smoked. It turned out very believable.

Then they drew a map with a simple pencil, and then colored it with a brown pencil.

After that we made a pirate seal.

For this we take brown plasticine, textured bottle cork, string, transparent nail polish. From plasticine you need to form a pancake and "stick" a rope into it, squeeze a drawing on the plasticine with a cork.

Then cover our seal with varnish and let it dry well.

The result is a real old pirate map treasures.

Recently I found a website on the Internet DrQuest.rf, where they offer a very interesting scenario for a birthday or a party for children on the theme of pirates and treasure hunting. This is an exciting quest for children with riddles and puzzles. The pirate map is divided into parts, and in order to find each part, you need to complete a specific task. Children get acquainted with Morse code, sea knots, types of ships, etc. Look - very interesting. Here's a link ... And Jack Sparrow himself gives the tasks to the guys :)! Sample video:

My son's birthday was approaching, and I thought about gifts, holding and decorating the holiday. I thought, I'm late as usual - the day before :). The big gift had already been booked by the relatives and I decided to buy some inexpensive gifts. Well, do not give them a bag! We must beat. Idea treasure maps for kids I have already taken note of it for a long time. A great reason to bring it to life!

How to draw a treasure map?

Yes Easy. You will need a piece of Whatman paper, pencils, paints and a couple of pictures for inspiration. We draw an island, a relief on it, palm trees for entourage, camels for shocking and a wind rose for authenticity. Already on top, I sketched a rough plan of the apartment, and pasted red crosses in places where gifts are hidden and marked the directions of searches with a dotted line. I burned the edges of the treasure map with a lighter, so that in truth 🙂

Treasure map, pictures for inspiration:

Add pirate attributes, and treasure map for children's party will be like the real one:

  • parrot
  • pirate ship
  • treasure chest
  • spyglass, compass
  • black mark, cocked hat, skull, anchor

This is how our pirate treasure map... I had little time, I approached the question superficially, next year I will also make a treasure map with my own hands, but I will prepare better. Because the success was enormous, the son was delighted to run around the apartment, opening all the drawers and cupboards in a row, looking under the bed, in the refrigerator, and on the mezzanine.

"Fire will help you"

What does it mean? If you yourself have not guessed (that you need to hold a part of the map over the fire, since it has an inscription written in milk), then you can enter the words “ Fire will help you " as an answer in the level

And Captain Jack Sparrow will laugh at the fact that he slipped you the empty parts of the map, but then he will still tell you what the matter is.

Blimey! You went through all the tasks and found last part cards? Ha ha ha, but it's empty! Okay, okay, that was a bad joke. Hold the last part of the map over the fire and maybe this will help you.

Yeah, now there can be no doubts, you need to hold the last part of the card over the fire and the words will appear.

In our example, "WORD" appeared on the card, but you will have to write the place where the gift lies.

As you can see, after the card was held over the fire (be careful not to burn the entire card :) a word appeared on the card, indicating the place where the hidden gift is. The quest is over :)

The demo quest can be completed here.

Now let's deal with the inventory that was used in the quest.

Inventory, complete list.

1. Pirate invitations (10 pcs.),,,,,,,,,

7. Blackbeard's logbook

8. (download) Treasure Map

9. (Font 1, Font 2, Font 3, Font 4) The fonts used in Captain Morgan's letter and in the logbook, in case you want to make your own changes to the text. (make sure you have installed these fonts before editing text files)

10. (download) Download everything in one archive

Now let's figure out how to make this inventory.

How to make a pirate map

First, download the map file and print it out. This is what the original map file looks like.

How to divide the map into 6 parts

I do not recommend printing the map in A4 format, but printing it a little larger (at least one and a half A4 sheets), then each part of the map will be large enough. Here is such a map I got (one and a half A4 sheets) If it is not convenient on this format, print it on two A4 sheets (the card itself will be printed on two sheets)

As you can see, the map is filled with different places such as "Storm Island" or "Dead Man's Cove", it also contains icons for guns, rum, the flag of the Jolly Roger, anchor, black mark, cross, steering wheel and chest. This is also done so that in the quest you can refer to the map to find out, for example, "the number of guns in the Fort of Hope" or "to find out the number of chests in Mount Flint."

The middle of the map is empty, this is done so that in this middle, if you want, you can sketch a plan of the area or apartment with a designated place where the gift is hidden. In our case, this place will be empty.

This is how the card began to look after I slightly burned it around the edges. Carefully, do not get carried away and do not burn a hole in the map, like mine :) But, since there are no vital places on the map in this place, I left it and did not begin to redo the map.

First, I drew a plan of our apartment on the map, but then I abandoned the idea of using it in the quest, but I left the plan just in case, it did not interfere with the quest.

This is how the map looks after dividing it into several parts. It is important that on the first part of the map there is a complete (not cut) island of the damned, because we will need to see it in the second task. I, unfortunately, touched it a little, but the icons were not badly damaged and their full number can be easily determined.

Now we will give the map an ancient look and make it very old. To do this, we will soak our map in tea and dry it.

Soak our map.

After about 2 hours, I pulled out the parts of the map and put them on sheets to dry.

This is what we end up with

Ready. We follow the same procedures with all the remaining paper props, namely, Morgan's letter, a sticker on a bottle with Morgan's letter, a wanted announcement for Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Blackbeard's logbook.

Captain Jack Sparrow's Wanted Announcement

After aging

Pirate birthday invitation

After aging

Captain Morgan Letter Bottle Sticker

After aging

Making a bottle with Captain Morgan's letter

We take an empty bottle

And we remove all the stickers from it, the easiest way to do this is by soaking and then scraping everything off with a knife.

Great, Captain Morgan's message bottle is ready.

Now we are trying on our stickers on the bottle, I printed a sticker in two sizes, smaller and larger. Trying on a bigger sticker

Trying on a smaller sticker

The second option looks better, and we will glue it.

We take ordinary glue - a pencil and thoroughly coat the sticker. There was also such an idea to write something on the back of the sticker, so that you had to guess to peel it off and see what was written on it and somehow use it in the quest. Since the quest was done mainly for children, I abandoned this idea so that it doesn't get too complicated, but you can use this idea by making small changes to the quest.

We glue the sticker, it looks great.

Now all that remains is to put Captain Morgan's message into it. We try on the height of the letter and the bottle, because we will fold the letter into a tube along the sheet so that the letter can be taken out of the bottle without seriously injuring it.

We put the letter in a bottle, a little too big, we will have to tuck it up.

We take out the letter, tuck it about 3 cm. and twist it back into a tube and place it in a bottle.

Great, now all that remains is to make a plug. We take the paper on which the parts of the card were dried and fold it into a cork.

Okay, let's stop her bottle.

Captain Morgan's letter.

You can download the letter from Captain Morgan in jpg file and in doc. In the doc version, the file is in two versions. In the first, the font is smaller and the letter fits on one page. The second version has a slightly larger font for easier reading and fits on 2 sheets. We print first on one side, then on the other.

If you download doc files, do not forget to install the fonts from the list before editing.

Captain Blackbeard's logbook.

This is how Captain Blackbeard's logbook looks like in printed form. I printed it out page by page, turning the sheets over to print on both sides.

At the end, you can add blank pages, because the magazine could have been kept for more than one year.

At the end we fasten the magazine with a stapler, Captain Blackbeard's logbook is ready. It can also be aged and singed at the edges. If you glue the staple area with the cut-out paper strip, it will look better.

Black Mark.

It's simple, print and cut out. On the back we write a spell "Banana shaman"

Milk on the map.

We write with milk on the card so that you can manifest the message by holding the card over the fire.

Here, too, everything is very simple, we pour a little milk and, dipping a match or a toothpick, write on the card the place where the gift lies. After that, let the milk dry and that's it.

That seems to be all :) If you still have questions about this quest, write to me on Vkontakte

The encrypted treasure map is not only a game that brings a lot of happiness to boys, but also an excuse to unleash creativity. I realized this when the school asked for the "Best Cryptographer" competition to prepare some kind of cipher text on a poster. I approached this lesson responsibly, and what came of this venture - see for yourself.

Usually we do all school crafts together with our son. But this time we had a lot of crafts for the school that needed to be prepared in 2 days. We distributed tasks among ourselves, and I had to encrypt the information. But this is even better, since at recess the son could decipher not only other posters, but also this one - he was interested.

Just want to tell you why I chose the treasure map. It seemed to me that ordinary puzzles and similar encrypted texts for children in grades 1-4 would be too boring. A treasure map with encrypted names of continents, islands, oceans and mountains, deserts and lakes is something that will interest children more than the usual encrypted text.

I imagined myself small and imagined a wall with posters, codes and puzzles. The treasure map would definitely grab my attention. Especially if she was almost like the real thing. I think if you make such a card for your children (just like that, and not for a competition), then they will be happy to spend time and be able to develop logical abilities.

To make a treasure map you need:
- thick paper
- colour pencils
- red felt-tip pen
- scissors
- stickers or pictures on a pirate theme
- glue
- matches

To make the card as similar as possible to the real one, I set fire to thick paper from all sides and extinguished it as soon as the edges took on the desired shape of a charred card.

On the hotel sheet, I printed out a note about the cipher, with which I decided to encrypt everything that was on the card.

For the map, I encrypted the legend of pirate treasure... This is how it looked in finished form. I printed it out on a separate sheet of paper and cut it out (as chaotically as possible).

I found pictures on the pirate theme on the Internet. I cut them out so that I could stick them in the right places later.

I glued an encrypted legend and a decryptor plate to the map. Where there was free space, I painted continents and islands.

Using a knife, I rubbed the lead of a soft, simple pencil.

She rubbed her pencil with a piece of paper. I painted some places (lakes, deserts, etc.) with colored pencils.

I distributed the pirate-themed pictures on the map and pasted them with a glue-pencil.

With a red felt-tip pen, I drew the line of the ship's path to Treasure Island.

She signed the encrypted names of mountains, lakes, oceans, islands. In general, there are fantasies where to roam =)

I hope you enjoyed the idea of making a DIY treasure map.
