I do not know what interests you in the plot and what criteria are you guided by in order to assess it. But personally, I think the game's plot is interesting. In each chapter, we are fed with crumbs of information that can be folded into a certain picture ... but it has to be destroyed and rebuilt (often completely revising the opinion about the events and characters in the game) with the next portion of the information provided. The plot is intricate and interesting. Some of the twists and turns in it are quite unexpected, which only does the honor of the game.

It has everything - comic moments, tragic moments and intrigue in the narrative - to qualify for a rating of "good". I can say with confidence that it was interesting for me to go through the entire storyline and I was reluctant to break away from the story missions for the sake of "missions of increased difficulty."

You learned the basics from reading the plot outline: we play as God eaters- a special unit Fenrir which is meant to destroy Aragami... The central figures in the narrative were the detachment Special forces blood, whose members have hidden potential - the strength Power of blood... The official goal of the formation of the detachment is to contribute to the study of a mysterious phenomenon called "Blood Rain", falling under which a person becomes infected with the plague.

A feature of the game is that the central figure of the narrative, our the main character Is a faceless avatar, the appearance and name of which are chosen at the discretion of the user. But this does not mean that the rest of the game characters and NPCs are not worked out. In fact, everything is just the opposite - the level of elaboration of the characters is very high. They believe in them, they want to empathize. They are happy, laughing, crying, sad, angry, disappointed, gaining hope - and everything is in front of your eyes! You will not find two characters who are similar to each other - each has an individual not only appearance and battle strategy, but also character traits.

The nice thing is that you will not only play as new characters from Friar, but you will also meet a lot of old acquaintances with God eater burst who settled in the Far Eastern branch Fenrir... The gameplay is similar to what you encountered in the first part. However, the list of features and innovations is now overwhelming. So, the game is divided into chapters, in each of which we have to go through missions. In between missions, you are free to explore different locations of the Far Eastern department Fenrir and Friar, Talk with Npc, buy things from a merchant / vending machine, synthesize things, and so on. To progress through the plot, you need not only to go through certain missions: as in the previous part, you will have to talk with certain people, visit the necessary locations, bring things - in general, fulfill the requirements of your commanders.

The list of available missions can be seen in our navigator located behind the counter - a classic. Technically, they are divided into 3 types:

  1. 通常任務 - missions normal complexity; there are always missions that must be completed to progress through the story. They open (as mentioned above) after various events.
  2. 高難度任務 - missions of increased complexity; here are missions that do not have to be completed - however, the reward for completing them greatly helps in synthesizing things. They open immediately in "packs" as you move from chapter to chapter (and the passage of certain story missions). Among them are missions related to characters.
  3. ダウンロードミッション - DLC; at the moment the game does not have such missions.


New gameplay element

The "Episode with Characters" system is an innovation that you have not seen in the game before. Those who played in God Eater / God Eater Burst accustomed to the fact that you can talk to characters using a button. But now, as you progress through the story missions, you can see not only the inscription "talk", but also the "episode with the character." If you decide to go through the episode, then you will have a fascinating conversation with the character, in which you will learn details about his biography, the biographies of other people in Fenrir... Sometimes a character may ask you to bring something, sometimes (one of the episodes with Gilbert) even create and equip something. But most often it will be a request to go through the mission together - thus you receive confirmation of completing the mission not from the navigator, but from the character whose episode you decided to go through.


Preparing for battle: choosing a mission and forming a party

Having decided on the choice of the type of mission and its rank at the stand with the navigator (and in the case of a new type of mission, as mentioned above, by talking with the desired character), you must confirm the composition of the team. If this is your first time going through a story mission (or this is a mission related to a character), then the presence of some characters is simply necessary and you cannot replace them with your "favorites". And so, as in the last part, you can safely assign a team yourself or even complete the mission yourself. By the way, the behavior of NPCs in battle can be changed using options. You can also select the voice of the navigator and the track that will play in the location (but not in the case of the first passage of the mission).

In addition, now a support system has appeared in the game and you can assign up to 4 characters to a support group: you are given 100 "points" to choose a character (in fact, this is a choice of a bonus for a battle) - and you must invest in this limit. It is clear that you cannot assign the same character both to the active team and to support. Characters from the support group have abilities that activate at the specified minute and last for a certain period of time (for example, Alisa at the 5th minute fills the scale for the whole party Burst to the third level).

As you can see, this gives a lot of opportunities: the success in the mission depends on the choice of characters and the support team.

Customization

The most interesting element of the game, the variability of which is simply touching. The player has a whole range of new opportunities that were not previously available in God Eater / God Eater Burst... I will try to briefly tell you about everything.



The highlight of the game is the ability to create all items of equipment and improve most of them. Creation / improvement requires materials that are obtained from the fallen Aragami absorption, are picked up in locations or the player receives as a reward for completing a mission plus money (this is either a reward for completing a mission, or selling materials and things). All items of equipment (except for clothing) have a rank: the more, the stronger and more valuable the item being equipped.


Equipment of things and change of appearance

The game has the following equipment:

  • melee weapons - short sword, long sword, giant sword, spear and hammer (the latter two are an innovation);
  • ranged weapon - assault rifle, sniper rifle, rocket launcher and shotgun (the latter is an innovation);
  • shield - small, normal, tower shield;
  • reinforcing accessories;
  • the control part (with the help of it we can absorb cells Aragami);
  • support accessory (it determines which command in the support group you can give - also an innovation);
  • upper and lower parts of suits (visualization - and only).

As you can see, the list is pretty decent. Moreover, not only the tactics of your fighting will completely and completely depend on what you equipped the character with, but the very style of conducting will completely and completely depend on this.

As in the previous part, you can also change the visual appearance of your avatar as you see fit.


Synthesizing and improving equipment

In addition to cosmetic changes in the list of materials, you will also notice the appearance of a completely new element - cores. A good half of the weapons are improved for these cores, and the only way to get them is to synthesize from other materials. The synthesis process is quite simple: each material has its own "specific gravity" per piece, and the core has a cost. For example, if a core costs 50 units, then you need to use 12 units of material A with a specific gravity of 3 (12 * 3 = 36) and 7 units of material B with a specific gravity of 2 (7 * 2 = 14) to create one core (14 + 36 = 50).

Has undergone incredibly strong changes and the creation of cartridges. Rather, now in general you get new types of improvements for creating cartridges not as you progress through the story missions. You have a "bloody bullet" gauge, which is filled using the firing command. As soon as you reach a new level (maximum - 10), then you get a new pack of cartridges that you can use in ranged combat and upgrades. The effects of cartridges are now much more interesting than in the previous part - it is much more interesting to experiment.


Now the game has five templates for which you can save presets of equipped items: this makes life a little easier if you purposefully change the types of equipment / character appearance.

And, finally, it is imperative to say about the last innovation: the system Blood arts... Any of your actions in the game with melee weapons (attack with buttons and on the ground and in the air, using skills associated with your type of weapon, etc.) leads to the learning of skills associated with this action. They are designed to improve the effect of these actions, and in some cases this improvement makes your life much easier. The learned skill can be equipped in order to get this improvement: increase the damage from the team, reduce the delay time, etc.

Combat mechanics

Here, again, many players will find the familiar interface from God Eater / God Eater Burst, but the innovations are striking at once.


Your goal is to fulfill the mission condition. They are usually simple to the point of banality: kill the required (s) Aragami... You have a complete set of actions in your arsenal: you can attack in melee, you can attack in a ranged one (or alternate it). If you took your partners with you, you can be glad: the list of orders for execution has increased significantly - now you can even force them to attack a target different from yours! So the tactical element in the game is pretty well developed this time around.

You have three stripes, just like in the prequels:

  1. HP is your health scale.
  2. OP - scale "Oracle Points", which are used for shooting; replenished upon successful melee strikes.
  3. ST - stamina that is consumed while running and for using special skills of melee weapons.


You can use melee and ranged attacks, but depending on the equipment you choose, your combat strategy may differ. It's one thing to swing a fast short sword, easily inflicting a combo of five hits on one target (albeit with low damage) being able to dodge an enemy attack at any time and avoid damage, and another thing to chop off a crowd with a heavy hammer or a giant sword Aragami, but always be afraid that the enemy will counterattack at the wrong time, dodging a slow attack and will damage you.

The same applies to long-range combat: you can hit with a sniper rifle from afar, make a couple of shots with ease at a single target long before it comes close to you; but with a shotgun it is better to crumble a massive accumulation of enemies, deliberately damaging them all at once.

In addition, each weapon also has special skills, on the use of which a lot of things also depend in battle: with a long sword, you can always interrupt your own by entering the state Zero Stance, thanks to which you can manage to block a blow with a shield (without waiting for the animation of one of the blows) or, for example, inflict a powerful chain of attacks in 4 blows without delaying "recuperation"; and here Hammer boost will allow you to deliver very fast and powerful hits at the cost of the stamina scale - and this is appropriate to use when the enemy is knocked down or stunned.


You can consume cells of a living enemy to enter the state Burst... In this state, you will consume less ST(and sometimes OR) for special melee skills, beat faster and receive additional bonuses from the control unit (and, less often, other types of equipment). By absorbing the cells of a living enemy, you form Aragami bullet- a cartridge of extraordinary strength. Moreover, you can either shoot him at the enemy, or shoot him at an ally. As in the previous part of the game, such a shot at an ally will lead to a rise in the scale Burst one level up (or the introduction into the state Burst, if before that the character who was shot with him was without a bonus).


If you absorb the cells of a dead enemy, then you will extract materials from his body. This is a very important process - because things are then synthesized from these materials! In addition, there are sparkling objects in the locations - these are also materials that it is advisable to pick up.

Well, do not forget to apply the command to which our Blood art, along with other types of attacks to learn and their "bloody skills". The game has a mini-map on which you can navigate and track the movement of Aragami. And in battle, you can always use things (either enhancing the indicators of attack, defense; or increasing / restoring the scale HP, OP, ST; or traps and grenades) - as in the prequels of this game.

Failing a mission is extremely difficult. After you run out of points HP, you pass out. Have Npc there are 30 seconds to come up to you and bring you to your senses. If he does not have time to do this, or you go through the mission yourself, then this is death (and, as a punishment, the deprivation of the opportunity to get the first thing in the list of mission rewards). And only after you repeat this fate three times during the mission, you fail it.

At the end of the mission, you will be shown the entire list of materials that you received; the amount of money for completing the mission; progress in learning Blood arts; improvement progress Blood bullets; and finally, you will be assigned a rank based on how you completed the mission.

The game tracklist has undergone changes too. As in previous games in the series, there are no complaints about it: many compositions organically fit into what is happening on the screen in front of the player's eyes. You will hear both old, painfully familiar melodies, and new arrangements on them; however, the game can boast of its own beautiful melodies, which you will hear for the first time (but this does not mean that all the tracks are good). Own opinion: the game is great. In any case, for those unfortunate 30 hours that need to be spent on completing all the story missions, it does not get boring. I have been waiting for her release for a long time and she largely met my expectations. Of course, there is something to complain about: Blood Arts can turn the entire gameplay process into a hellish overuse of the tethered team. In the PSP version, ranged combat and aiming are rather inconvenient things. And with innovations in equipment and teams, it is now much easier to complete the game.

I cannot consider this a disadvantage: after all, you can not rely on Blood Arts, but keep track of the equipped weapons and ammunition in the old fashioned way; you can not rely so much on shooting, but place your abilities competently and focus on close combat ... In general, these flaws will not overshadow the main advantages of the game: a high level of customization; the presence of a well-developed system of "Character Episodes"; a plot full of intrigue and mysticism; characters who can show emotions.
