Bungie has opened access to the beta version of Destiny 2 to everyone - now all PC owners can get acquainted with the second part of the story of the Guardians, regardless of the presence of a pre-order of the game.
How to take part in the test
First you need to download and install Blizzard app Battle.net. You can download it. In the process, you will need to create account Blizzard, it's very simple.

After installation, launch Blizzard Battle.net and find Destiny 2 in the list of games, it is located in the Activision subsection. It remains to download the game client (it weighs about 15 gigabytes) and you can go on an adventure.

If the download button is grayed out: Try restarting the Battle.net client.

Destiny 2 Beta Activities
First, you can complete the solo mission "Homecoming" - this is the very first mission of the storyline campaign in Destiny 2, during which the attack of the Red Legion takes place.

After practice, you should pay attention to the "Inverted Spire" raid, in which three Guardian players deal with the Vex.

There is also the Crucible PvP mode, in which two teams of 4 players each fight each other. In beta, this mode has two maps: City Center and Javelin 4.

What could go wrong
The closed beta test of Destiny 2 on PC met players with errors "Saxophone" and "Chive", it is difficult to say how cloudless the start of the open test will be.

Judging by the feedback from the participants closed test, there are almost no complaints about the game itself: the optimization of the PC version of Destiny 2 is at a good level.

Please check the Known Bugs just in case, and remember that some video recording apps and overlays will not work on the PC version of Destiny 2.

What about system requirements
Destiny 2 is not too demanding on the video card and processor. If you are not planning to play in 4K resolution, then a card of the level of Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 is enough for your eyes. During the presentations, Bungie ran the game on a PC with a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti video card, but here the developers were most likely reinsured.

Minimum system requirements
  • CPU: Core i3-3250 or FX-4350
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 660 2GB or Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • RAM: 6 GB
Recommended system requirements
  • CPU: Core i5-2400 or Ryzen R5 1600X
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390
  • RAM: 8 GB

How to switch to Russian
The Destiny 2 Beta may use English localization by default. To change the language to Russian, you need to open the game settings in Battle.net (screenshot below) and in the "Destiny 2 (beta)" section select Russian in the "Text and audio language" drop-down menu.

The Destiny 2 Open Beta will only run for three days on PC, but that should be more than enough for anyone interested, as Bungie didn't give a lot of content to try out. All test participants will have access to a familiar one story mission Homecoming, which starts the whole game, a co-op strike (PvE instance) Inverted Spire and two PvP maps.

Party on the street PK-boyars

In Russia, the original Destiny was not very popular, which was largely due to the binding of the game to consoles. In Destiny 2, the Bungie studio corrected this defect, so now the franchise can be appreciated by numerous Russian PC gamers.

True, the news of the transition of Destiny 2 to PC caused various concerns among fans of the original shooter. What worried players the most was that Destiny 2 on PC might be too easy. Still, putting headshots with the mouse and keyboard is many times easier than aiming with the stick on the controller.

Having played the PC version of Destiny 2, we can say that shooting enemies in it is, indeed, somewhat easier than on the console. However, it is not so simple that the game feels fundamentally different: even a mouse and keyboard are unlikely to save you from several deaths in a strike.

Also, PC players should be pleased that they, unlike console gamers, will have access to the gaming "gold standard" of 60 frames per second. Not that 60 FPS was really necessary in Destiny 2's strikes, but a smoother picture is always nice. And for inveterate PvP players, this can generally be a matter of principle - even 120 FPS in CS: GO is not always enough for them.

The only negative aspect of Destiny 2's PC that we've come across is the controls. Of course, it will definitely be unusual for fans of console Destiny, but more importantly, it may seem inconvenient even for fans of PC shooters. Fortunately, all buttons can still be reassigned, so big problem it shouldn't be for the players.

First, it's beautiful

The first thing that becomes obvious when Destiny 2 launches is that Bungie has made its game even more beautiful and effective. Of course, we are not talking about any graphic revolution, but the picture in the game is impressive: both textures and numerous visual effects performed at a decent level.

Especially surprising is that Destiny 2 looks great even on low graphics settings - Bungie has worked hard to optimize the game. In general, in terms of the level of the picture, the sequel most of all resembles the recent Doom, but you should not expect seas of blood here - instead of it, killed opponents leave behind loot.

Meet the Red Legion

Perhaps the best improvement in Destiny 2 over the original is seen in the very introductory mission in which you have to try to stop the Red Legion and protect Last City along with the three leaders of the Guardians.

Unlike the rather slow and boring start of the first Destiny, the sequel is served competently from the very beginning: high-quality cinematics, spectacular cut-scenes and non-stop movement forward through many adversaries await you. The Homecoming mission can easily appeal even to those for whom the first Destiny "did not go" frankly.

It just remains unknown so far whether Destiny 2 will maintain this level of missions throughout the entire storyline campaign, or in the next single-player mission, all this “Hollywood” will disappear and we will return to the monotonous dashes and skirmishes from the original Destiny.

Dungeons and Aliens

Another type of PvE activity in Destiny - strikes - has become much more interesting. This is what Destiny and Destiny 2 call co-op instance dungeons with particularly tough opponents, for the passage of which they give out valuable loot.

Compared to the strikes from Destiny 1, the Inverted Spire's strike during beta is better in almost every way. Judging by it, then in Destiny 2 strikes will become larger, more dynamic and, most importantly, less monotonous. So, during the passage of Inverted Spire, players run through 3 or 4 completely different locations, which differ from each other not only appearance, but also by the enemies waiting in them.

And I especially want to highlight the final boss of the strike shown to the players, the fight with which was done in the best traditions of raid battles in MMORPG. Have the last boss Inverted Spire has not only 3 phases, during which its strategy and abilities change, but battles in each of these phases unfold on different sites, which change due to the destruction of the previous field. In general, no one will let you get bored in a strike.

War never changes

Also in the beta test, two PvP maps were available for 4v4 battles with different modes: the classic control of points on the Javelin-4 map and the Midtown map with Countdown mode, in which your team needs to defuse a bomb at the enemy base - in fact, you need capture and hold one point.

Both modes are quite traditional for multiplayer shooters and you shouldn't expect any innovations from them. Matches turn out to be fast-paced - battles on small PvP maps rarely exceed 10 minutes. So far, it is completely unclear how competitive these modes will be, since due to the abundance of newcomers in the beta test, the battles turn out to be completely chaotic.
