Scripted mods

These add-ons are written in different programming languages, and, depending on the writing language, they may differ in installation, therefore we write a separate instruction for each mod, however, there are general principles that should be indicated:

Every scripting mod requires installation Script Hook V, which is usually supplied with the modification. It is important to remember that the version of the program must match the version official patch, because if there is a mismatch, a software conflict may arise.

Script modifications based on the LUA plugin

In addition to the Script Hook V we already have, you need to download the LUA Plugin - this plugin significantly increases the capabilities of Script Hook V. Now you need to copy the modification files with the .lua or .ini extension not just to the root directory, but to its scripts / subdirectory. addons (if it does not exist, then you need to create it).

.NET Script Modifications

Download and install Script Hook V as described above. Download Script Hook V .NET and place it in the root directory of the game. Modifications with the extension ..dll, .css, .db and .ini are copied to the scripts folder, which is located in the root directory of the game.

Mods that edit game files

For this category of additions, you need the OpenIV program latest version, after installing which, you need to specify the path to your copy of the game on your hard drive. When the mod is downloaded, go to OpenIV, click edit and look for the address specified in the add-on installation instructions. Then we place the modification files in the specified path. After replacing, press Rebuild (update) and save the changes.

If you use this program, then always make backups of the edited files, since the mods will not always meet your expectations.

The differences between installing mods on a license and pirates are insignificant, so to speak. By and large, they do not exist, however, there is an opinion that if you run licensed game modified with OpenIV in online mode, then it will not end well: as a rule, Steam offers to download original files, but there is also the possibility of getting banned.

Installing mods on the XBOX 360

Installation of the modification is available only if there is a flashed console. To install it, you will need the mod file itself, which, as a rule, is called common.rpf, the XboxBackupCreator program, and the image file of the second GTA5 disk itself.

We go into the properties of the image and uncheck the read-only checkbox.
Launch XboxBackupCreator, select the ImageTools tab, click the ImageBrowser button.
In the window that appears, click File, then OpenImageFile, and select the image file.
In the resulting directory of image files, look for the common.rpf file, right-click on it and press replace and select the file of the modification itself.
In the dialog box that appears, click OK, then File and select CloseImage.
