Shogi (Japanese chess). A game of feelings. “Chess: is it a sport or an intellectual game? Sports intellectual games chess

Once upon a time, entire generations grew up listening to the clatter of dominoes in the yard. And boxes with chess, checkers and lotto took pride of place in almost every apartment. Today, computers and television have pushed board games into the background. But experts say: by erasing the passion for intellectual games from our lives, we are depriving ourselves of enormous opportunities. After all, board games are both therapy and the development of skills necessary for competent management of your life.

Chess. Gymnastics of the mind
A LOGICAL game that combines elements of art, science and sports. One of ancient games on the ground. Chess promotes the development of mental abilities, memory, and creative thinking. They teach you to develop multi-move combinations in your mind.

Go. Craving for philosophy
More than 50 million people play GO. This game develops systematic thinking, the ability to think strategically and develop tactics. The game also inclines a person to philosophize. The point is that people who play Go deal with images. A blurry image of a pattern of stones formed on a board spins in a person’s head and mysteriously influences the fuzzy logic of decision-making. They say that this is why a computer is not yet able to beat a person at this game.

Checkers. Ways of thinking
LIKE chess, checkers reproduce the actions of the combatants certain rules strength The game develops combinatorics of thinking (the ability to think in sets of images).

Shogi (Japanese chess). Game of feelings
THEY SAY that in order to make the correct winning move in shogi, you need to feel it. Even in ancient times, shogi in Japan was recognized as a game that developed strategic and tactical military thinking. In Japan, this game has been elevated to the rank of shrines; in many schools it is included in the compulsory curriculum. And although few people in Ukraine have even heard of shogi, it was a Ukrainian who became the champion of Europe and the Open World Championship in 2008.

Domino. Let's understand the structure of the universe
THEY SAY that dominoes were originally intended exclusively for fortune telling and magical ceremonies. It is even suggested that the dominant system of the universe is encrypted in dominoes - the Universal Law of Harmony of the macro- and microcosmos. And even the newfound name of the game, “slaughtering a goat,” does not detract from its merits. Dominoes develop focus, concentration, logical thinking, the ability to analyze a situation, attentiveness, observation and memory.

"Cash Flow" (CashFlow). Business game
“CASHFLOW” is a modern adult version of the well-known “Monopoly”. A specially trained trainer can teach you how to play Cash-Flow. Supporters of the game claim that the money spent on training (about 100 UAH) will very soon pay off. After all, the game allows the player to analyze his life and financial mistakes, realize them, and then real world to correct.

Backgammon
THIS IS ANCIENT oriental game had a special meaning for the Persians: it symbolized the movement of the stars and served as a subject for fortune telling. In addition, based on the results of the game, partners often resolved commercial disputes: the winner dictated his terms to the loser. This happened because, according to the Persians, only a person whom fate loves (sends a “good stone” - suitable numbers on the dice), who knows how to think logically and see through the enemy, foreseeing his possible moves and blocking their negative consequences in advance, could win at backgammon.

Cards
EVERY card game- a separate world. And almost every one is useful for something: preference and “fool” train the mind, the ability to calculate the situation in advance and memory, and such “children’s games” as “witch” and “hello, jack” can turn players into real psychologists who can concentrate as much as possible at the right moment.

BY THE WAY

Today the Federation is trying to restore board games to their former glory. board games Ukraine. And even dominance computer games does not scare federation activists. “Due to the intensive development of computer games, board games are now in a period of decline,” notes Denis Krasnokutsky, head of the department of public events at the Federation of Board Games of Ukraine. “But a person’s imagination will not allow this to happen; they will be able to be reborn.” We strive to expand people's understanding of board games through special projects, and we plan to open intellectual clubs in every school. And in the near future, going to a cafe or bar, over a cup of tea, every visitor will be able to have a good time with friends, playing their favorite board game. We can say that we are creating a new culture, where sociability, intelligence and other human qualities that can be demonstrated and improved while playing will again be welcomed.”

COMPETENTLY

Valery Aristov, President of the Foundation for the Development of Intellectual Abilities, "Galaktika" President of the Association of Intellectual Games, researcher at the Institute of Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, director of the author's school, academician of the European Academy of Natural Sciences and the International Academy of Original Ideas:

“The one who looks at chess or checkers only as recreation and entertainment is mistaken. On the contrary, games should be perceived as a psychological model for the development of human intellectual abilities. And above all, as the development of attention, which is always at the epicenter of mental activity. Intellectual game creates cognitive therapy - emotion management, develops imagination - the main component of creative thinking. In the gameplay model, in conditions of hidden delight or panic, the player involuntarily learns to manage his emotions. It is especially important that children are brought up at the table strong-willed qualities player, his tolerance is formed, processes are thought through that will later be useful in life situations. This is a planned formation of experience, or as it is now called – training.

In the process of playing, a personality is formed that learns to take risks and always, in constantly changing situations, strives to play its game without yielding to the enemy. Each time, overcoming psychological discomfort from the destructive influence of internal “brakes” - uncertainty, doubt, feelings of danger and fear - the player cultivates self-respect and pride. At the same time, the ability to doubt the obvious and, disregarding authorities in a particular field of activity, to look for alternative ways to solve a problem is cultivated. And what is especially important is that a culture of player behavior is fostered.

The good thing about an intellectual game is that most players, without even thinking about the consequences, develop not only memory, sustained attention, attentiveness, observation, imaginative, logical, creative and philosophical thinking, speed of thinking, thinking on , the ability to think for a partner, as well as patience, confidence, endurance (during psychological pressure, loss or win), perseverance, tolerance and other volitional and personal qualities. They help you communicate! Intellectual sports are needed no less, and maybe more, than physical ones. The development of the nation’s intellect and the well-being of the country depend on this.”

What do we already know about World Mind Games? They were held for the first time in 2008. Initially, they included 5 types of games: chess, bridge, checkers, go and Xiangqi (Chinese chess). This year, thirty-five gold medals will be contested by 2,763 competitors from 143 countries.
The World Intellectual Games are gradually moving to new level. They are now organized and conducted by a well-known and respected organization SportAccord. They organize Olympic and non-Olympic sports, and also establish various conferences and sporting events.

Difference between games 2011 and those that took place last year, the participants were invited, which means that only the best of the best will play. $11,000 is for each winner of each competition men's games and US$8,000 for the winner of the women's chess games. There will undoubtedly be a very interesting fight and tough competition in every match.

The tournament starts on December 9 rapid chess (ends at 11), it will take place according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds. Time control: 20 minutes per game + 10 seconds per move. December 12-13 will be held round-robin blitz tournament, control - 3 minutes + 2 seconds. But on December 14th the main event will take place - blind play tournament. This will be an interesting spectacle, especially since the control for the game will be 20 minutes + 10 seconds for each move made.
At the tournament you will be able to see such players as: Vasily Ivanchuk, Ruslan Ponomarev, my beloved Hou Yifan, Ekaterina Lagno and many others famous players.

Ended rapid chess tournament in Beijing at the World Mind Games. We were pleased Alexandra Kosteniuk, who took gold, scoring 6 out of 7 points (without losing a single game). In second place is Ukrainian Katya Lagno with 4.5 points, and in third is Georgian chess player Nana Dzagnidze.
The results in the men's tournament were not encouraging. Sergey Karyakin took 10th place, and Alexander Grischuk took 6th place. The first place in their group is Chinese Wang Hao. Silver went to Vugar Gashimov, bronze went to Gata Kamsky.

Today The blitz tournament in China has ended. Current world champion Hou Yifan(also my love)) took first place among women, scoring 11.5 out of 15. Antoaneta Stefanova and Anna Muzychuk finished behind her, scoring 9.5 points each.
Among men in lightning fast game won Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, who scored 12 out of 15. Our compatriot Alexander Grischuk took second place (10.5 points). Shakhriyar Mamedyarov took bronze (10 points). Why is Alexander Grischuk so sad in the photo? Dissatisfied with second place? Yes, it seems not, especially having opened as much as one and a half points. Or maybe because Sergey Karyakin took an offensive 4th place? What do you think?

The World Mind Games have come to their logical end. The blind play tournament has ended.
First place among women was taken by... who do you think? of course, the most beautiful and amazing - Hou Yifan. I personally congratulated her on her second gold medal at these wonderful games. She was a full point ahead of second place, which went to Viktoria Chmilite from Lithuania. Well, Alexandra Kosteniuk took third place, which cannot but please us - fans from Russia. I would like to note that Hou Yifan is the only athlete who was able to take gold in two tournaments at the World II Institute.
As for the men in the blind tournament, first place went to Zoltana Almásy from Hungary. Second was Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from France, third was Vugar Gashimov from Azerbaijan.

Do you want to have a good rest and switch your mind from endless work or study to something more enjoyable? Evenings are made for playing chess with a computer - it’s hard to find a more interesting and more beneficial activity for the mind! The main thing is that, contrary to popular belief, playing chess with a computer is almost as cool as playing with a live opponent. Of course, it is impossible to break the rules in this case, and you won’t be able to hit your opponent over the head with the queen in case of loss - this is a minus...

If you want to become the strongest in this intellectual sport, you will of course need live opponents with non-standard logic and the ability to generate creative solutions. But you can’t enter a tournament against real champions unprepared: online chess will allow you to train as much as you need! And once you’ve trained yourself to play chess online, you can safely challenge even Kasparov himself to a tournament. There is no doubt: as in any sport, regular training will allow you to prevail in any situation!

A little history

It’s not for nothing that we immediately began to compare the board game with military strategy. It is now difficult for us to imagine that a knight, rook or bishop (which, by the way, does not look like an elephant at all) could have anything to do with military operations. Where are the tanks, you ask? Where is the aviation? Okay, if we decided to make do with infantry, let there be infantry... But why then do the pawns look more like girls in ball gowns rather than stern infantrymen?

It is not difficult to answer all these questions if we remember that the history of the game chess originates in Ancient India: scientists agree that the game appeared no later than the 6th century AD. Since at that time humanity was already a fairly civilized and organized society, the battles bore little resemblance to primitive fights. It was not the personal endurance and strength of warriors that began to come to the fore in the art of war, but the ability of their commander to build tactics and plan a battle strategy.

It was somewhat expensive to practice various tactical schemes on living people even in those days, and therefore the ancient rulers decided to come up with something that would allow them to simulate the course of a battle. And they came up with chess - not so much a game as training ground for commanders, a tool for planning and practicing possible tactical techniques. Those on the board were precisely the troops that the generals of that time had at their disposal. And a place was found for the commanders themselves: in the role of a king, who brings little sense as ordinary warrior, but without which the battle is lost instantly.

Of course, there were no traces of any tanks in those days - that’s why we still play with rooks (chariots), bishops (in fact, bishops are bishops) and cavalry. Well, and the infantry - where would we be without it? Pawns have the shortest move, but there are always many of them, and they are the ones who start the battle. Well, do you still have doubts that the game of chess perfectly reflects the picture of military operations?

Chess players of all countries, unite!

Of course, time cannot but take its toll on traditional entertainment. And, although chess has not only existed for a long time, but has also been popular for many centuries, the rules of this game more or less settled down only in the 19th century. The game finally acquired the status of not only “universal” but also “international” with the creation of the FIDE organization. The history and purpose of this community are typical for any such association in the sports world. With the growing popularity of some kind of entertainment, the number of different interpretations of the rules increases, which make it almost impossible to hold more or less large-scale competitions.

To turn a board game into a real sport, it is necessary to create a unified system of rules, a mechanism for assigning sports titles and competition regulations. It is these issues that FIDE has been solving since 1924 - that is, for almost a century. Of course, no one is stopping you from creating your own set of rules - but who will you play with? And having studied the generally accepted rules approved by FIDE, you can play chess with the computer, with the Chinese or with the world champion - and with everyone according to the same rules! In this regard, playing chess is a universal language of communication, because no matter where you go, you can always play a game or two with any local resident, without worrying at all about the language barrier. You simply don't need to speak: your moves will say everything for you!

Computer chess player

It so happens that not all intellectual sports are considered equally valuable for mental development. For some reason, an avid gambler is more likely to be associated in society with some asocial element, while a chess player is an honored and respected person.

I distinguish this sport among all board games precisely because in it, like nowhere else, the importance of demonstrating all aspects of human thinking is great. By reading books and studying the games played by other people, a novice chess player gains a theoretical knowledge base, which in part can even be tried to be transferred to practice: we all know such a concept as, for example, “ classic debut” - what is this if not an attempt to replace the work of one’s own imagination with reproducing acquired combinations from memory?

However, any truly talented chess player will beat a beginner in no time, who will reproduce entire scenarios read from books. The fact is that all standard schemes have long been known to the whole world, and therefore are easily predictable. By reproducing even the most ingenious sequences of actions on the board, the player exposes himself to attack, because the enemy knows all his moves several moves ahead.

A complex combination of simulated compositions and original finds - this is where true mastery lies. It’s not without reason that beating a real champion is more than an easy task for a computer, which by definition is only capable of choosing the most successful options from the hundreds of thousands of chess games that were once played and loaded into its memory.

However, this does not mean that there is no point in playing online if)
