Game of thrones: game review. Game of Thrones RPG - Review of the game, review Review of the game of thrones

Winter has finally come to Westeros, and the creators of the series decided to postpone filming so that the frame was not artificial, but real snow. The decision is understandable, but it also pretty upsets the fans, because the release of the seventh season will have to wait longer. Yes, and lovers of reading have to get bored: even if Martin promised The Winds of Winter either by April or August, who knows these promises.

However, savvy fans have found a way to pass the time. Instead of boarding up windows in case of white walker invasions, roasting pigs on fires and dozing at family gatherings, they returned to almost even outdated video games ... By making some adjustments to them, hmm.

In fact, there are a lot of such mods. Some of them change very little things, some completely reshape the world of the original game, inscribing characters and even huge locations from the PliO into it. However, units of such modifications make us run them again and again.

It doesn't matter if you want to quietly level up your character while exploring the world of Westeros, take part in tough battles for the Iron Throne or cunningly dodge, deceive and manipulate others to achieve your goals - among these mods there is sure to be one that you will like. Perhaps even more than hanging out with a few of Littlefinger's beauties.

7. A Clash Of Kings (Mount and Blade: Warband)

Even though Westeros and Essos are twice as big original card Warband, the creators of the mod managed to completely recreate them inside the game itself. V Clash of Kings you can customize your character the way you want - you can even choose a background from the PliO universe.

Just choose your banner and start an exciting journey through the vast world, looking into the villages and cities recreated from PliO. As you earn reputation and make friends with certain people, you can still swear allegiance to one of the parties or found your own House, taking part in epic battles - but now in the setting of the Game of Thrones.

The mod is still in development, but has already earned wild popularity. And the developers continue to delight us with new missions and intrigues.

Watch out, Cersei, we're on our way to King's Landing!

6. Game Of Thrones Adaptation (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

This mod completely reverses original game upside down. It will allow you to immerse yourself in the amazingly recreated atmosphere of the PLIO - here you will find your favorite characters of the saga, and you will see familiar names, and you can find many small interesting things. The world looks almost the same, and your main task is to destroy the dragons, but the cities and heroes are pretty reworked. And everything is done so convincingly that one can begin to doubt that Bethesda originally created all this.

Forget about the Imperials - the Lannisters rule the roost, and it's not the Stormcloaks that oppose them, but the Starks. At the same time, Solitude was changed so that it can hardly be distinguished from King's Landing - even the Red Castle rises just as majestically. And Winterhold already resembled Winterfell even in its name, but here the developers tried to give even more similarities.

The towers of Valtheim on the banks of the river turned into the Twins - the abode of the Freys. And this is not the limit at all: many cities and locations were added and added, including the Wall, which is completely open for research and, in addition, on which you can find the brothers of the Night's Watch and even meet Jon Snow himself in person.

With this mod, you can not only change the shape or emblems on the shields to those that exist in the world of the Game of Thrones. More importantly, almost any of the more than fifty PLiO characters can become your companion: Robb Stark, Ygritte, Dog... You can even get yourself a direwolf. Or Tyrion - whichever is closer to you.

A new version of the mod is still in development, but the Internet is a wonderful thing. With a little digging, you can easily find old version- also very, very good.

5. Westeros: Total War Enhanced (Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms)

This mod is this moment a little outdated, but still guaranteed to give you pleasure.

Westeros: total war Enhanced recreates the world, characters, Houses and even weapons from the "Game of Thrones". And although Total War does not change its habits and remains focused on battles and battles, politics still matters a lot.

Key characters stand up for their respective sides with their name crests on their shields, and no one is forgotten - from the sadistic Boltons to the Wildlings beyond the Wall. In battles, the main thing is strategy, the brutality of the battles is absolutely consistent with the Game of Thrones, and knowledge of books and TV shows gives both victories and defeats a special taste.

4. A Game Of Thrones (Crusader Kings II)

This mod simply had to appear sooner or later. Crusader Kings II fundamentally has a lot in common with the PLiO universe: a single king rules the world, arranges weddings, spectacular executions (sometimes even combined), and influences relationships between families so that decades later your House can prevail over others precisely because of this petty intervention. Intrigues are layered one on top of the other, plans are built within plans - why not the "Game of Thrones"?

This mod adds to the game the lands of Westeros and their rulers who seek power and strength. You can start three hundred years before the events of the first season and continue until the end of the fourth book. This is your opportunity to test your wits in the political intrigues around the Iron Throne... Or follow in the footsteps of the Mad King and destroy everything.

Will you be merciful or will you burn your enemies alive? The choice is yours.

3. Westeros: Age of Petty Kings (Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms)

Unlike previous mods, this one touches on a completely unexplored part of the PliO universe: the history of Westeros thousands of years before the start of the War of the Five Kings. And you can see Westeros fragmented into many small kingdoms that always do not get along with each other, to put it mildly.

In the Reach, where there are still no Tyrells even close, five different nations are fighting among themselves, and at this time, four more compete with each other for power in Dorne. Meanwhile, the conquerors do not sleep and attack from all sides - by sea and because of the ice - intending to subjugate the already blood-drenched Westeros.

The mod not only allows you to see and imagine what Westeros was like before the unification of the lands under the rule of the Iron Throne, but also makes it possible to understand what legends and what moments of history, albeit unobtrusively, but quite often the characters talk to each other.

2. Game Of Thrones: War Of The Five Kings V2

Maud Age Of Empires II HD Edition still in development, but you can already see that it very faithfully depicts the map and political situation of Westeros at the time of the events of the second season of the series or the second book.

Robert Baratheon is dead. While the Lannisters, led by Joffrey, seized control of King's Landing, Renly, Stannis, Robb, and Balon have proclaimed themselves kings and are now fighting in a war for the Iron Throne. Among the Houses there are also Tullys, Tyrells, Arryns ... And there is also the opportunity to send someone to the Night Watch. Admit you want it.

New cities and settlements are constantly being added, and existing ones are being detailed. The developer receives good reviews and continues to improve the mod, but please note that his work is not over yet.

1. A Mod Of Ice & Fire (Civilization V)

A complete game changer. The mod completely copies the world of the Game of Thrones: cities, areas, unions and PliO Houses. The leaders do not have animations, but you will see their faces while talking to them - just like in the original Cilivization. And, of course, each opponent has their own unique tricks.

Want to own the most powerful navy? Well, first you have to outsmart Balon Greyjoy and the warriors of the Iron Islands - unrivaled sailors. They will generally outsmart anyone, unless Khal Drogo and his Dothraki horde set foot on their lands. By the way, be prepared for the fact that Daenerys will send her dragons into battle, so it’s better to prevent their birth in time in principle. Otherwise, you will have to rely on the lord of the Vale, Petyr Baelish, a consummate master of negotiations, alliances, and betrayals.

The barbaric raids of the White Walkers will also cause problems. Well, the greater the satisfaction will be when you destroy their nearby camps. If you succeed.

Of course, unfortunately, they won’t let you explore the world completely freely - there are restrictions. You can't hope that you will just nuke the Lannisters, but the game is the most fertile ground for spreading the influence of kings and advancing the faith. Religions from Cilivization V are replaced with religions of the world PL&O: Drowned God, Seven, R?Glor… No one will leave offended.

Know of any other awesome mods that we missed out on? Welcome to the comments!

Let the series of books "Song of Ice and Fire" and not as old as legendary "Lord of the Rings" and not as popular as "Harry Potter", but she also took her rightful place in the pantheon of good, fit fantasy. Just the books George Martin very different from most of the works of this genre. Everything is extremely severe here: blood, wars, sex - nothing is taboo. And yet, the most important thing is not this, but a magnificent plot, twisted like a drum of a working washing machine. Subtle court intrigues and political undercover battles that often develop into a real war. That is what is called Game of Thrones, after which this RPG was named.

Alas, by "Songs of Ice and Fire" have already released one toy, a strategy that turned out to be a real "wool". Fortunately, the role-playing game was made by completely different people - the French company Cyanide Studio, which once pleased players with projects Chaos League and Loki. And with their task they managed to cope much better.

Winter is coming

Having started to pass, at first I was afraid that the plot twists and turns would be "merge" because of the need to follow the story of the book. And the truth is - what is the interest to look at the same plot twists again, if you have already read them, or watched the now very popular television series of the same name. It turned out that the creators of the game solved this problem gracefully. We play not the heroes of the saga itself, but completely new characters who, however, participate in the events of the first book, and meet people we know from it. Thus, we are shown another side of those events, and therefore I advise everyone who is going to pass Game of Thrones, for starters, read the first book or watch the first season of the series! This is not to say that otherwise you will not understand anything, but it will be much more interesting.

So, we have to lead two very different heroes into battle: the veteran Mors Westford, who is serving for life in the Night Watch on the Wall, and the prodigal son, the nobleman Alester from the house of Sarvik, who disappeared for fifteen years on a neighboring continent and became a monk R "glora.

Morse's adventures will mainly take place in the north of the continent, and Alester in the center. Accordingly, Morse will get more severe battles, and Alester will have to understand the intricacies of political intrigue. But both will have to wave the sword, and the stern, straightforward Westford will also take a sip from court machinations. We will be thrown from one hero to another, as we progress, and thanks to this, we will be able to see the whole picture of what is happening.

And there will be something to look at Game of Thrones A wonderful, twisted plot with unexpected twists and turns. Alas, it is impossible to describe it, so as not to spoil your pleasure, but believe me: when allies can turn out to be enemies, motives actors suddenly turn out to be completely different, and a mystery awaits at every turn, it is impossible to break away from history.

Two heads are better!

The game also boasts detailed and well-voiced dialogues. There will be even more talking than fighting, and your words, fortunately, will influence events in the future.

When the arguments run out, and diplomacy becomes powerless, you will have to speak the "language of steel." Combat system at first I was a little disappointed: it seemed almost completely copied from or the same . You single out the enemy, run up to him, and a dull waving begins, as it were, "in the direction of the enemy", which is not at all like a real battle. But gradually, when the heroes began to acquire skills, and there were more and more enemies, the situation improved.

The use of skills in Game of Thrones nicely done. When you press pause, which is common in RPGs like dragon age and others like him, the fight does not stop. It's just that everything slows down a lot, and the player can give orders to their characters. The skill wheel is confusing at first. Personally, I'm confused between different characters and their specific skills, but rather quickly got used to all this "kitchen". Naturally, skills should be used wisely. For example, any skill with the Interrupt property can interrupt a skill your enemy is performing and possibly save you from death. But you will have to use them sparingly - 1-2 skills, and your energy is exhausted. It can be recharged immediately, but then you have to wait 20 seconds before the next recharge. During this time, you may well be stumbled, because the fights in Game of Thrones pretty short lived.

You can see the enemy's armor type and pick the right "tool" against it.

The fighting style of our heroes is also different. Of course, you can choose classes here, but Morse remains a harsh warrior who relies more on strength, and Alester is a more "subtle" fighter. In addition, thanks to the service of the god R "glor, Alester received part of his strength, and can control fire, which heals friends and cripples enemies.

But even Morse is not a blunder in mystical matters. He is endowed with the rare gift of Skinchanger, and is able to move into his fighting dog. By controlling the dog, you can sneak past enemies and rip their throats out from behind. The dog will also help in quests due to his ability to sniff out the tracks of different people.

But with the graphics, everything is not as perfect as with everything else. The game has a lot of blurry and not very beautiful textures, but, fortunately, this shortcoming appears only in different story cutscenes and when the characters talk, when everything that surrounds them is shown from a close angle. The rest of the time this shortcoming is not evident.

Role system Game of Thrones so classic that there is nowhere else: get yourself experience, take levels and distribute the mastery of different types of weapons. Sometimes they give an increase to one of the main indicators. You know, strength, agility and stuff like that. Also, each level is a dry ration of a class skill and one "heroic" skill peculiar only to this person: the mystical powers of R "glor from Alester and the introduction into the dog (as well as all sorts of combat "buns" for it) from Mors. The final chord is Traits, just like in Fallout!

All fans of RPG - I advise you to read Game of Thrones, and the fans "Songs of Ice and Fire" I recommend a hundred times! I repeat: it is highly recommended to read the first book or watch the first season of the series to make the game even more interesting and fun. Although this project has flaws in the graphics, everything else is at a very decent level, especially the plot, which gradually entangles you in the web of the game of thrones and then brings down a cold shower of unexpected events.

start writing game review of Thrones you want after 20 minutes of playing. Moreover, writing without launching the client at all, without going beyond the prologue and without taking screenshots. Here you are sitting at the "Game of Thrones", and the first part of Dragon Age is looking at you from the monitor.

No, seriously, they give us the dog at the very beginning of the showdown.

A little later, you understand: “Uh, no, and yet we have the most Game of Thrones here.” Which, alas, makes the situation even worse.

Points of view

Game of Thrones, if anyone doesn't know, is such a good fantasy series. Book and TV. In a sense, the television one is even better, because it fits better into the format in which the author of the cycle, George Martin, works. If you love elves, dragons, all kinds of magic and epic sagas, then you probably already know what the point of A Song of Ice and Fire is without me. If not, then this is very strange, but one way or another: "A Song of Ice ..." ("Game of Thrones" is a title adapted for TV) follows dozens of characters at once, showing the events taking place in the world of the book-series from all "points of view" at once .

So we decided to push the same model into the game. Last time at computer game it was more or less possible to follow several main characters at once in 2002, when there were a lot of strategies around, and Warcraft 3 entered the arena. And then, I remember, each of the heroes was given at least ten hours in a row. Here we have only a couple of fighters for everything good, but we will have to jump between them every 120 minutes.

This alignment looks cute in books, is standard in TV shows, and bad-bad-bad in computer role-playing games. In practice, it looks like this: you scattered points-skills-professions to a new character, got to the North, went through a hectic episode. Then you are thrown somewhere to the south, you scattered points-skills-professions for a new character, a hectic episode passed. Repeat.

Such jumps from one story to another break everything that can be broken. Computer Game of Thrones feels more like a collection of mini-games rather than a full-fledged RPG. One fight per left click spam, then a short one text quest, then a fight to use abilities, then a strange guessing game, then you are thrown onto another card.

I would like to make my duet of heroes identical twins, so that they fight at least the same way, but no, they won’t let us do this. You can give them an identical class and take the same perks, but their skills will still be different. You can lean on the same weapon, but one will remain a "crow-tank", and the second - a semi-mage cultist. And everyone will have their own mini-games.

As usual, we will be able to ride on our cheerful clichés - rob our own home, play the clown all the way from the prologue to the ending and win battles with the help of exactly one obvious and easy-to-use puncture in the mechanics. However, we will lose exactly from the same thing, so here we get a kind of balance, hehe.

Even the appendages of the aforementioned Dragon Age sticking out from everywhere do not help; at some point you start to regret that GoT is not a complete clone of the project from BioWare.

Yes, we are given computer partners, but: if right choice tactics in the same DA, it was almost impossible to follow the allies - they already know what to do - then in the "Game of Thrones" the heroes are followed by complete idiots, unable / unwilling to fight normally and demanding that they be led along the battlefield by the hand.

Yes, we have dialogues with strongly different options replicas, but: due to constant teleportations, deep development will not receive any of the individual episodes, and therefore choose, do not choose ... Imagine that you go through the ending over and over again for many hours mass effect 3. Great, now you know roughly what to expect from the "story" part of Game of Thrones.

Not quite a summary of the previous series

And for the third time, yes - we have a game in a rich, vibrant fantasy universe, the creator of which has been working diligently and successfully on his invented world for more than a dozen years. And the series, minus some silly script rewrites, tends to add to the big picture rather than ruin it. But bad luck - the game does not use all this happiness in any way.

GoT decides that gamers need to tell the whole main movement of the local world from scratch, and tell it in syllables. That is, in the style of “Here we are, the Black Brotherhood, our sacred duty is to protect the North Wall from raids blah blah blah, so that the world sleeps blah blah blah”, and with traditional dialogues a la “Vasya, here you are training young fighters - go train young fighters. You need to go to the northern barracks - you always trained fighters at the northern barracks, so we sent them back to the northern barracks to train with you, because you train young fighters. And do not forget that we have two characters, so we will listen to this wonderful song twice, only the second will be on the motive “Vasya, pray to the fiery god Rglor, you ran away from your noble parents and accepted faith in the fiery god Rglor. And pray for your peasants, because you are the son of noble parents, and be sure to pray to the fiery god R'hllor, because you escaped and accepted faith in the fiery god R'hllor. The night is dark and full of terrors in yo face.

Approximately at the same level will be all the other dialogues-plot moves-fantasy passions. That is, if you are a fan of the original books, or even just watch the HBO series, from game scenario you will spit twice as hard as ordinary gamers, although it would seem that everything should be exactly the opposite.

While it's hot

The Game of Thrones game is a soulless craft. The project used exactly one of its advantages - a loud brand, everything else in the program is present only in so far as. GoT was not able to promote either the rich world of the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, or to implement the Dragon Age mechanics in a normal way, or even to rivet a more or less cheerful picture using its Unreal Engine 3.

Cyanide Studio has unveiled Game of Thrones, a role-playing game based on the hit TV series Game of Thrones and George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga. In the URPUR.RU review, we will tell you a little about the sensational game in which the talent of a politician can be stronger than a deadly sword

The main local attraction is the ancient ice wall that divides the continent from west to east. This fence was built after people were attacked by strange creatures with glowing blue eyes - White Walkers. Having been defeated, the enemies went into the permafrost of the north. Since then, the wall that prevents attacks has been guarded by units of the Night's Watch. Severe warriors renounced everything and devoted themselves to serving the kingdom.

GAME-BOOK

Recall that "Game of Thrones" is not the first attempt by developers from the French studio Cyanide Studio to transfer the series of books "A Song of Ice and fire» to the playing space. An avalanche of dissatisfied criticism from fans of the saga hit the real-time strategy Game of Thrones: Genesis, in most cases - in terms of graphics. This did not prevent the creators, who have a modest budget in their arsenal and a great desire to realize their dream, to release new game based on the books of an American writer. This is a full-fledged third-person RPG that can remind gamers The Witcher and Dragon Age. For those who are new to the first book, we will tell you a little about the main points that formed the basis of the plot of the game. The action takes place on the continent of Westeros, remotely similar to Foggy Albion. The state of the Seven Kingdoms is ruled by a king. The head of state of the Seven Kingdoms, Robert Baratheon is a rather entertaining character. He came to power fifteen years ago, after a rebellion that overthrew the ruling Targaryen line. The legitimate rulers fled and did not leave their dream and attempts to return the usurped throne. Carried away by the pleasures of an idle life, Baratheon delegated all matters to his Hand - Jon Arryn, with whose death the game begins. The first hero to play as is Mors Westford, the last of his kind, a warrior of the Night's Watch. A not very beautiful, but very useful dog helps him drive away the barbarians and train novice hunters. The second hero is Alester Sarvik, who returned to his homeland to bury his father. By the will of circumstances, he is forced to deal with the suppression of the beginning of the uprising of the poor, while restoring his native nest and trying to find his brother Gavin, who is accused of killing their father. The situation is complicated by all sorts of intrigues, cunning weaves and conspiracies.

It is possible to plunge into all the events and go through a series of fateful elections in one breath. At the end of the game, you have to make an extremely difficult choice: whose side to choose. At the last minute, a stunning ending forces you to step on a less bloody, but leaving high hopes, path. Maybe with a different budget, but the game needs to be continued.

DIFFICULT CHOICE
Playing as Alester Sarvik, then as Morse Westford, new chapters will have to be opened, the narrative is transferred to different storylines. At the stage of character creation, it is impossible to “collect” his appearance from scratch. But along with the class change, you can change equipment and clothes. For each hero - 3 classes. Westford focuses more on piercing and cutting weapons - axes, swords (a knight with a shield, a warrior with two-handed weapons, a berserk warrior). Alester has more sophisticated killing tools (a dexterous fighter with two-handed weapons, a warrior with daggers, and an archer with a wide arsenal for ranged fights). By choosing a class, the player receives bonuses for the character for equipment and weapons. The rules are such that in exchange for powerful equipment, some advantages change, including abilities and talents. In the gameplay, each enemy displays an icon indicating the strength of the armor - armor or chain mail, leather or ordinary clothes. It is better to attack a warrior in chain mail with a spear, you cannot take armor with a sword or arrows: you will have to arm yourself with an ax. You can change the combat set at the touch of a button. And now a little about the special task that will have to be solved at the stage of creating a hero: to keep the balance as much as possible, choosing the qualities with which he will be endowed. Your shirt-guy, a brave man and an excellent commander must be, for example, lame, fit or hemophiliac. Also, the player himself decides how strong, dexterous, lucky and strong the fighter will be. In addition, after passing the level, the points received can be used to "pump" the talent branch - about twenty for each hero. In the case of Mors Westford, additional skills are transferred to his dog, which can be controlled in werewolf mode. A faithful friend will not only determine the type of task “by scent”, but will also rush at the enemy, exposing sharp teeth. The more convulsively we press the attack button, the closer we fall to the tender neck of the enemy. Combat vehicles not learned right away. We enter the first battle and immediately understand that it is talents and skills that play a key role in the outcome of the battle. To choose "skills" time cannot be stopped - it will only slow down a little. This will have to sacrifice precious energy. Sometimes allies help fight enemies. The game is built on a linear principle: you can’t go to any part of Westeros and deviate significantly from the plot. But on the way you will come across different bottles with tinctures for healing or attacking. An empty container is not thrown away in the game: it is saved and asked to be filled again from the merchants.

OVERALL IMPRESSION

In the game, the amount of cruelty and violence is kept to a minimum. Unlike the series, there are no gutted entrails and erotic scenes. Heroes are endowed with magical powers from the very beginning. Graphics The Game of Thrones is not too happy, but given the small budget component, compared to A Game of Thrones: Genesis, things are still better. Of course, sometimes you can’t look at the heroes with pain: either problems with the shoulder joints, or a stone chest and reluctant movements. But the impression of the visual setting is softened a little by the dialogues, proofread and agreed upon by George Martin himself. The game is really interesting. It is felt that the guys from Cyanide Studio have relied on the original Martin plot and recreating the atmosphere of the original serial plot. The need for heroes to constantly make a deal with their conscience adds to the spice, they unwittingly become involved in the game of thrones, from which they will either emerge victorious or lose. Game of Thrones is unlikely to delight gamers who are used to expecting freedom, flexibility and open world. Nevertheless, the brainchild of Cyanide has something to give to a player who is not afraid of cutscenes and narrow corridors, and is ready to forgive all the shortcomings of the plot, characters and universe.

The ability to independently collect ingredients and brew some kind of miraculous potion is impossible. But on the way you will come across different bottles with tinctures for healing or attacking. An empty container is not thrown away in the game: it is saved and asked to be filled again from the merchants. The markets and shops are full of sensible expensive goods. It is more profitable to get them for completing the quest and destroying bosses

"Game under license" - a label that usually says that we have before us collected on hastily a product pursuing one single goal - taking advantage of the popularity of a movie or book, to pull a dozen other green pieces of paper out of the wallets of gullible buyers. Sometimes it happens that an undemanding audience is even satisfied. But it’s harder to please hardcore players, so nothing but Battle for Middle-earth does not come. So, at first, I looked at the subject of today's conversation with apprehension - the previous attempt by Cyanide Studio to translate Westeros into numbers was, to put it mildly, not the most successful.

Almost Martin plot, old school role-playing system

General dampness of the game, outdated graphics

One of the best stories recent years against the overall dampness of the project

This time, the French decided to stop their experiments in the strategy segment and turn to the good old genre of role-playing games. And, in principle, they succeeded. It’s good that the developers didn’t offer us to relive the events of Martin’s first book for the third time - the action of the game develops parallel to the main storyline The first book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. This approach guarantees us both a familiar world and characters, and a fresh look at known events.

There are two main characters in the game - the brother of the Night Watch, and in the past a vassal of Tywin Lannister, Mors Westford, nicknamed the Butcher, and, who returned from voluntary exile for his father's funeral, Alistair Sarvik, hereditary lord of Riverspring (in the Russian version of the Keys). The first is a grunt from God - a warg, a magnar, a boundary or land knight, the second is a water dancer, a mercenary or ranger, and part-time priest of Rglor. The first is a gloomy, embittered hunter of deserters from the Wall. The second is a gloomy, guilt-ridden prodigal son. Both are callous, prudent and cynical guys who never fit the definition of “hero”.

I will say right away - the game came out damp. However, who is surprised by this now? V Lately developers often do not bother releasing a finished product and continue to finish and polish projects for several months after the release. In the case of the Game of Thrones, a patch that fixes optimization problems appeared quickly, but the gameplay has not yet been completely fixed. What's wrong with him? Serious balance problems. You can not meet a single more or less worthy opponent for several hours of the game, and then stumble over an almost indestructible group of enemies. It's annoying, and a lot.

The role-playing system is a greeting from the distant past, and no, this is not a minus. At a time when everyone and everything is trying to simplify this aspect of the game as much as possible, the developers of the "Game of Thrones" adhere to the classic scheme. In addition to the standard strength, agility, survivability, and so on, the game has a really extensive list of skills related to possession various types weapons and armor. And that's not all - not only can you choose a few positive features when creating a character that need to be balanced with negative ones, you will also receive perks just during the game. Did not give the traitor a quick death and tortured for a long time - get 1% to the chance to inflict a critical hit and so on.

The combat system, like the role-playing one, is quite interesting in the game, but it requires careful work with a file. Combat takes place in real time, but giving orders and using skills is much more convenient in the local slo-mo mode. It's almost a controlled pause, when you turn it on, the action slows down and you can assess the situation and, if necessary, change tactics or switch to a second set of weapons. Why switch? Then, that it is better to deal with enemies in plate shells with a hammer, and it will be faster to pacify an enemy in some kind of quilting with a rapier. However, sometimes you can simply ignore such trifles and bravo draw figure-eights with a giant two-handed sword.

Not all is well with skills - despite the fact that there are many, indeed many, most of them you will not use. For example, my water dancer knows that he just needs to set fire to the sword, ignite the enemy and, in the case of a large crowd of enemies, blow him up and everyone around him, and if there is only one enemy, slowly fry him to a crisp while the boundary knight draws windmills flamberge, apply stunning and send the dog either to knock down, or to take away a weapon or shield. It works 99 times out of 100. That's it. Other skills can be used, but they are either less effective or extremely situational and rarely used.

But what really impressed the game was the plot. Which is not surprising, because Martin himself followed him, as well as the dialogues. As a result, we got a gloomy story not much inferior to the original. There are no friends here, there are only temporary allies, the characters are dying like flies, yesterday's heroes turn out to be bastards, and bastards ... they become even worse.

The plot is really interesting to follow, you forget about the imbalance of the combat, and not the most beautiful picture, and the inconvenient interface. Perhaps the fact that I am a big fan of the book had an effect, but it was really difficult for me to tear myself away from the game precisely because of the excellent plot. It was he who kept me at the screen when I returned for the sixth time to the damnably boring King's Landing, which in the version of Cyanide Studio turned into some kind of King's Farm of three and a half streets and two dozen houses. It was thanks to the storyline that I endured the dampness of the game, the bullying that Unreal Engine 3 was subjected to.

And the ending, which, by the way, is four ... yes, connoisseurs of Martin's work know that the one who plays thrones either wins or dies. This rule also applies to the less epic level. I will say one thing - in the last few years in role-playing games there was no story that would impress me more.

So if you appreciate a good story and are willing to endure glitches and roughness for it gameplay- do not pass by. And if you are used to skipping cut scenes and dialogues, you can’t even look in the direction of Game of Thrones, because without these moments a very mediocre role-playing game awaits you, albeit not with the most banal quests.
