genre Role-playing game (RPG)

BioWare developers need no special introduction. The old-timers of the industry who gave us such game masterpieces as Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old republic and Mass Effect, along with Bethesda Softworks and the now-closed Black Isle Studios, part of which is now hard at work under the banner of Obsidian Entertainment, are one of the three pillars on which the RPG genre actually rests. Each game from the Canadian studio is separate fascinating world, in which players go headlong for many days. And their new creation was no exception to this pleasant rule.

After some experimentation in the form of action RPG Jade Empire and shooter-like Mass effect the developers decided to go back to basics and do something in the old-school style, which they themselves once spawned. As befits a classic role-playing game, the events in Dragon age develop in a fantasy world, which, as usual, will have to be saved from the next global misfortune. Without further ado, the developers called the local orcs simply and pathetically - spawn of darkness, so that everyone immediately understood what kind of extremely impartial and dangerous personalities they were. And the confrontation with them in the Dragon Age Universe is quite a usual thing, especially the gnomes, who regularly encounter this criminal element in their mines, have become skilled in this matter. However, from time to time, every evil spirits, as usual, gathers strength and makes another attempt to conquer everyone and everything already on the surface. This preventive occupation turns out to be very useful for people who usually by the time of the next invasion (Mora) begin to engage in the favorite pastime of feudal lords - strife and internecine wars. All this funny bloody and fratricidal occupation has to be abandoned and, having united with all races, will begin to diligently eradicate the annoying creatures of darkness.

Naturally, the difficult consolidation process will not get off the ground without an additional kick. In order for someone to get this kick in time, and in general to look after the ancient evil, there is an order Gray Wardens, which are the most, the most, the most. These are certainly not Jedi and they cannot use the power of thought to throw stools, but their swords cut the enemy no worse than laser blades, and a special blood connection with the forces of evil helps to feel dark aliens and even be a little aware of their affairs thanks to dream contacts.

"Where are the dragons?" - you ask. Oh, they have a slightly unusual role to play in Dragon Age. These are not the niggardly, trembling over a pile of their beloved gold, like Tolkien's prototypes, and not just very dangerous thick-skinned animals. Here they are assigned a key role and the main leader of all this disgrace under the name of Archdemon appears in the guise of this fire-breathing creature.

Quote:
- What will we do if the Archdemon appears?
- We'll do it, that's what ...

A typical, seemingly, fairy tale that does not really stand out from the many fantasy games in the experienced hands of BioWare sparkled with new colors. Game world although it is filled with the usual races of people, elves and gnomes, but the relationship between them is not displayed in a canonical form. Instead of Tolkien's exalted wise and omnipotent creatures, the elves in the world of Dragon Age resemble more the unfortunate goners from the works of Andrzej Sapkowski. They eke out a miserable existence of second-class creatures, and the maximum that they are destined to achieve in the human world is to be a servant. The fate of the free elves, who did not leave their forests, is not so sad, although they are already a wonderful breeding ground for robbers and hired killers.

From the relationship between all these races follows the role of our hero in the world of Dragon Age. We can start the game as a representative of one of these three "nationalities". Yes, this is not so much, given the variety that can be observed in some others. role-playing games... But depending on the character chosen, the beginning of the game will take place completely differently. Each of the heroes will enter the "warpath" on a different territory, each will have its own story. Choosing a person of noble birth, you will face the betrayal and death of your loved ones, but a completely different story will be in store for a simple street thief. It goes without saying that for a gnome or an elf, the plot is also not similar.

The very same passage of the game is also distinguished by a great variety and variety of options for solving each game situation or conflict. After the hero joins the Gray Guard, we will witness the defeat of the army of people and the betrayal of one of their leaders. After such unfavorable events, our goals become quite clear - to punish the apostate and gather a new army, this time involving the rest of the races in the common cause.

The goals are clear, but the ways to achieve them are already at our discretion. A big world opens before us and complete freedom in the means of achieving the final goal. And this is despite the fact that the world of Dragon Age is not a semblance of seamless vast territories. Elder Scrolls and according to the old tradition, locations and cities available for visits are simply marked with labels on global map... But each of these small locations, each nook and cranny has a number of secrets and many side tasks, almost each of which can be implemented in different ways.

While in the south the darkspawn prepare for the last battle, each of the factions in the free lands is absorbed in its own problems and strife. The situation is, in fact, quite typical for all BioWare games. As soon as the hero arrives in new lands in order to enlist the support of local authorities, he immediately finds himself in the face of chaos, in which the local world is mired. The gnomes cannot choose a new leader, the city of people Radcliffe is besieged by the rebellious dead, and in the tower of powerful magicians there is a local apocalypse and the invasion of an army of spirits. There is nothing to be done, we have to roll up our sleeves and begin to promptly put things in order.

This work rarely includes banal "find-bring". For example, in order to repel the coming attack of the undead on the village, it would be nice to "patch up" the armor and ammunition at the local blacksmith, for which he first needs to be taken out of the binge. To further facilitate your task, you can attach to the protection of several recruits who are not at all eager to fight for the common good, and the oil found in an abandoned shop can also be used sensibly to set fire to walking corpses.

Moreover, each quest and game situation has many solutions. Someone can be simply intimidated or convinced with a high corresponding skill, and someone can be deceived. Nobody forces you to help every first person you come across, especially since many situations do not initially have uniquely correct solutions. To save the kingdom from the demon who settled in the body of the heir of Earl Radcliffe, the easiest way is to kill this very demon with a boy. But if maternal tears move you, then you can think about other options for exorcising the demon, one of which may require a human sacrifice - fortunately, the mother, partially to blame for all this mess, will herself volunteer for this unsightly role (this will still require the help of a traitor sorcerer whom you could have accidentally killed in a rush of righteous anger). And if such sacrifices are not to your liking, then, after wiping your halo, you can go for help to the magicians, who will jointly try to solve this problem without bloodshed.

Even simple robbers on the road can be dealt with in completely different ways. The master of literature will easily intimidate them, and after a little chatting with them, you can really feel some sympathy for these "romantics from the greater road."

And almost every key character, be it good or bad, turns out to be not so simple upon closer acquaintance. A fanatic or a scoundrel can give weighty and logical arguments for his position, while the saint's hands will not be so clean either.

Our companions turned out to be exactly the same multifaceted. Save the world in the company of angels with naive eyes and pure convictions? It's boring! Take a cute little bitch-witch or a huge barbarian who accidentally nailed an innocent family and after two weeks of sitting half-starving in a cage started talking about repentance. Or why not involve a hired killer in the common case, who was aiming at you with a bow five minutes ago? Oh, come on, what are the principles and revenge ... Practicality is needed here, the world cannot be saved on principles alone.

And each of them has their own opinion on our actions, they can wedge into our negotiations with the gaming NCPs. Certain actions can be approved by them or the opposite effect. Moreover, this ratio is displayed visually in the form of a corresponding scale. Helping a casual traveler can cause disapproval of the practical Morrigan, but Alistair's admiration, so one cannot count on an unambiguous perception of the situation by all partners. In order to appease and increase the rating of mutual understanding, companions can be given special gifts. Some of them can be especially important for certain heroes, and in addition to a particularly high bonus to the scale of approval, you will join some secret from this hero's past and hear some heartbreaking story.

BioWare would not have been BioWare if it had not also provided for the opportunity to have an affair with one of the companions and "warm up" together by the fire.

By tradition, as in all past projects of Canadian developers, from our entire company in the game, we can form a team of a maximum of four people. The key to success in battle lies in competent team selection and overall balance. Actually, the set of classes itself does not shine with delights - a warrior, a robber and a magician. This is not the variety of Neverwinter Nights. On the other hand this set classes is classic and does not imply any confusion when choosing the right direction. There is no way to create an all-round fighter either. In the world of Dragon Age magic subject to the elect and this gift is not given to the warrior. And rushing to develop all the schools of magic or the skills of a fighter is also a very grateful business. The levels do not grow so quickly (which is another value of the side quests and the experience given out for them) and the choice must be approached as thoughtfully as possible, in terms of usefulness for the whole team and ensuring the maximum possible versatility of the squad that can withstand any forces.

Warriors must have powerful support from the mages. Without each other, neither one nor the other is little suitable for anything. The fighters take on the "infantry" and cover the mages, who, in addition to enemies of their own class, are good at dealing with large clusters of opponents and provide powerful support for their team thanks to healing and increasing the characteristics of spells. Rogues, with the right approach, are also pretty good at realizing themselves on the battlefield and can cause great damage to the enemy if they go around him from the back. They also have the ability to create traps, grenades, poisons (which are applied to weapons) and healing poultices.

Slow pumping is compensated by the presence of magical items that give bonuses to characteristics. They also do not roll on the road, and in order to get them you need to carefully explore the world or spend a lot in the store. In the latter case, for the most part, you really just have to drool, because the best magic items are simply huge sums that really need to be mined and saved for a long time.

An interesting approach to the damage system. In addition to reducing the health indicator, the hero can receive serious injury, which is incurable with ordinary potions. Thus, a “broken leg” imposes a penalty on movement speed, and a “dislocated arm” gives a penalty to an attack. You can get rid of such things only with a first aid kit, which, in turn, almost does not raise the overall streak of life. This kind of damage is inflicted with a critical hit and necessarily occurs after "death". But the slain partners do not actually die, they pass out and resurrect at the end of the battle, if at least one character survives.

The only thing that is a little frustrating about the game is its visual performance, which does not match the overall high level of the project. This is not to say that the game looks bad, but it does not cause admiration either. Ambient textures are weak and backgrounds are blurry due to lack of anisotropic filtering. The latter can be easily cured by forced activation of this function from the drivers, and the situation with textures can be slightly corrected with one of the appropriate mods. But you shouldn't expect dramatic improvements anyway, because improved textures are original files processed with appropriate filters in Photoshop.

The developers relied on the detailing of the characters and various effects. Bright flashes and lightning from magic spells illuminate the corridors. Blood gushes in all directions and splashes characters from head to toe, they then in this form and run around the level. The battles are generally quite harsh and can end with the beheading of the enemy. Such bloodiness perfectly underlines the serious atmosphere that the developers were trying to create.

It should be noted that the camera can take a position behind the hero's back or it can be raised up, as in the old isometric games. And at first, while the enemies do not pose a great danger and their number is not large, we mainly use close-up view, which allows us to enjoy all those fountains of blood and special effects. But the more difficult each skirmish, the more time we spend with the camera up, making it easier to navigate the battle and create complex combat "combinations" of heroes.

You can't find fault with the sound. The soundtrack may fall short of the immortal works of Howard Shore in The Lord of the Rings, but it is also incomparable.

Dragon Age: Origins cannot be called very much original game... Upon closer inspection, it contains many analogies to past BioWare projects (Star Wars Knights of The old Republic, etc.) or the recent "Witcher" (the same difficult decisions and the general "adult" style of play). But, despite all this, the game is addictive with incredible force thanks to the huge variety and an interesting world worked out to the smallest detail. Divided into seemingly small locations, it keeps many secrets, each of which you want to know. Considering that the passage depends on the chosen race, class and, first of all, on our actions, then for each of the players the story of saving Ferelden will develop in its own way, that after end credits creates a desire to replay the game from cover to cover. The immortal classic of the RPG genre in a new rendition and with an exciting new story. Beyond any doubt best RPG of the past 2009.

Dragon Age Development Lead Mike Laidlaw has revealed new information on future projects including Dragon age 4 and Dragon Age 5. As it turned out, BioWare and Electronic Arts have been hatching plans for the release of new projects for a long time.

According to Mike, the companies have no plans to close the series. Moreover, the developers already have a theoretical plot of not only the fourth, but also the fifth part. In other words, the authors prepared the script well in advance and paved the way for many years. According to Mike, the developers are fully prepared for the full development process.

Laidlo has previously discussed the company's plans for Dragon Age. Then he stated that he is still the head of the series, which means that he has a job. However, he has no right to disclose details that are corporate secrets. But there is no doubt that his employees are definitely working on something, albeit in a light mode.

BioWare's main focus at the moment is an ambitious third-person shooter called Anthem. The authors promise a huge open world, a mysterious plot and unprecedented graphics for the genre. Electronic Arts has made a "huge investment" in graphics technology and has worked to make Anthem the forefront of this. The release of the project should take place in the fall of 2018.

This is an amateur review written specifically for the WoP portal. This time I decided to tell about one of my favorite games (which did not affect the rating), Dragon Age: Origins. An intriguing plot, difficult decisions, rich dialogues, beautiful fights - it's worth reading about it!

Spoiler

What are the associations with the word "BioWare"? Someone will remember the Baldur's Gate series, someone will shout that they urgently need to replay Neverwinter Nights, and someone will go to save the universe from the reapers. However, today we will not turn our eyes to these outstanding creations, but to another masterpiece that will not disappoint fans of real RPGs and fans of BioWare's brainchildren in particular. So ... Dragon Age: Origins.

Everyone chooses for himself
What is the main charm of Dragon Age? Perhaps in a combat system, a huge number of weapons and armor, or busty elves on every corner? Not at all, although all this is present in the game and performed at the proper level (for the sake of elves, you can already buy it, isn't it?). The main highlight of the game is choice. Here you can and should always choose, guided only by their beliefs, character and desire of the left heel. Dragon Age is a book that a gamer will have to write himself.

Woman, religion, road
Almost from the very beginning, your character will be accompanied by a variety of companions of all stripes and areas. They will help you in battle, give advice in another difficult situation, and one or the other can become ... your chosen one! Moreover, you can start a romance with almost any companion (there is a dog among them, but humanity has not yet reached such "tolerance", so be content with elves / people). And do not think that you will be allowed to jump from tent to tent with impunity (GG and his accompanying friends stop to rest in a camping camp, just like young scouts). No, each of the characters will want you to choose one, and let the player decide who is dearer to his heart. However, we are somehow carried away by this topic. You can dress your companions as you please (and undress too ... no, I am carrying something today, forget it), and also pump their skills according to your ideas about how a companion of a real Gray Guard should fight. Did I say the Gray Wardens? Well, a little later we will return to this phenomenon and the twists and turns of the plot as a whole. I will just say a little more about the choice. The player has the right to decide whether he believes in a single Creator, in something of his own, or, in principle, he does not care about all this nonsense. As for the roads ... In Dragon Age there is a huge number of locations, some of which must be visited, and some of which the gamer explores at will. Territories are often ordinary corridors, but this is not striking at all. If we talk about roads as ways of development, then there are also plenty of alternatives. But first things first.

On a note
You can always drive one or another companion out of the squad forever. You can, damn it, disperse all this aching and useless horde and cut out hordes of monsters in splendid isolation. True, you will not be able to drive away Alistair's first full-fledged companion and your cute little dog. Well, how can you get rid of the dog? Mi-mi-mi.

Serve the devil or the prophet
A lot will depend on any word or action of the player, from the fate of the small peasant to the fate of the whole world. Moreover, your protégé will earn a reputation during the game. It is within your competence to instill fear and self-loathing in all miserable people, or to gain the glory of a real virtue, hearing about the deeds of which the angels will arrange mass suicide based on envy. The people will slowly gossip about you, your affairs and other nonsense (characters who do not play a role in the development of events have a place in the game, but they do not look so real in comparison with the same Gothic 2). In the game, you will repeatedly have to decide which is more important: fill your wallet with clear coins or do justice. Also, on the way, the gamer will repeatedly meet demons who will certainly try to seduce him with tempting offers. And do not forget that faithful companions are closely watching your every decision, and if they do not like these very decisions, they can easily leave your small squad.

On a note
You can always relieve tension in a relationship by giving your companion a gift. But choose carefully, taking into account the desires and preferences of the companion! A beautiful bard girl is unlikely to be happy tactical maps or a dog bone.

Epee for a duel, shield and plate
So we got to the funniest thing: the gear. It's no secret that ammunition is one of the main components of any RPG. What has Dragon Age: Origins prepared for us? First, the armor. Here she is for every taste and color: from ordinary leather and iron to mysterious silverite and dragon bone. Do not forget about rings and amulets with mysterious properties. Secondly, a huge selection of weapons. You can equip a warrior or a thief with a huge amount of cold (this includes maces, axes, swords, daggers, hammers) or small arms (bows and crossbows) weapons, and magicians will fight with a magic piece of wood (I'm talking about a staff, not Pinocchio) and powerful spells. The magic in the game looks impressive, and you should choose your spells carefully. A lava demon will be absolutely purple on the vain attempts of a magician who casts a fireball. It will also not be superfluous to seize the moment and bump the frozen enemy, so that he is scattered into small pieces. Thinking with our heads, comrades!

On a note
When using spells that affect a specific territory, you need to be careful not to inadvertently hurt your partners. You don't want your opponents rolling on the floor laughing, watching the inept magician send all his comrades to the next world caused by a thunderstorm (it seems that it is going to rain), right?

Everyone chooses for himself
... Beginning, race and specialty. And also the appearance. There are six tie options: noble man, wood elf, city elf, gnome aristocrat, gnome criminal, magician. The attitude towards your character, possible paths of development, as well as the first quests and some events in the future, will depend solely on the gentility, sharpness of the ears and the actions of the hero until the time the player takes the reins of control into his own hands. Further, the plot develops depending on the actions of the GG, but the gamer will still have to go through some stages prepared in advance by the developers. However, there is no feeling that someone is directing you - on the contrary, all actions seem to be planned by you or prepared by evil fate. The character constructor allows you to create your own, unique hero, there are quite a lot of functions in it (but what is there, not getting lost for long in all these depths of drawing the right little toe of the left foot). The plot is briefly as follows: everything was wonderful except for minor troubles and political intrigues, but then evil creatures of darkness (by the way, your main opponents) came running, robbed all the korvans, and the offended king gathered his forces in order to repulse the enemy. It is with the spawn of darkness that the order known as the Gray Wardens has long been engaged in the fight. Trained and trained, they are constantly looking for valiant recruits to fill their ranks with cannon fodder. That is, future heroes, of course. It is you who, by the will of fate, will have to join the circle of these fighters with darkness and repel the impending Darkness. All fell on their faces before the epic.

The plot is actually twisted, and even your actions add fuel to the fire, so it will not be easy to unravel the tangle of events. But you are not done with a finger, you can handle it!

We also choose as best we can
It would be a sin to keep silent about specialties and branches of development, because BioWare has done a great job here. The game has a tueva hooch (hello to Joker from Mass Effect) of all sorts of professions that your hero can master, and each, in one way or another, will affect your skills. Speaking of skills. In Dragon Age, you can develop both passive and active skills, and it cannot be said that any abilities are more important than others. Just as a new, learned blow is useful in battle, so during dialogue you cannot do without the skill of hanging persuasion on your ears. Many specialties can only be taught by certain characters, so don't yawn and keep your eyes open. And you should not grab onto everything: it is better to thoroughly study one branch of development than to know only one weak skill of all. And remember: your path depends only on your wishes. Create, think, combine - everything will work out!

On a note
You, too, train your companions. And if you have increased the magic of the warrior, then do not complain later that you cannot put another pack of enemies. And there is no need to try to fasten sparkling armor on the magician. It may look beautiful, but in reality this upgrade is absolutely useless.

We have no complaints against anyone
Yes, you won't be able to get away with the developers' battle system either. Any battle looks, be it a battle with a horde of spawn of darkness or a fight with spiders, beautiful and real. In any carnage, it is worth using an "active pause", that is, stopping time in the G-Man style, in order to give instructions to your comrades and look at the situation from all angles, thinking about possible tactics (Eh, if this worked in real life when you scramble Also noteworthy is the opportunity to customize each warrior's behavior in battle, so that the slow-witted magessa does not climb into the front ranks, and the warrior does not hide under the skirt to the archer. beautiful ice statues. But even in this barrel of honey there was a fly in the ointment: the blood on the characters looks well, very awkward. It begins to seem that you not with a dexterous movement of your hand took down his useless head to a stupid monster, but staged a bloody massacre in the style of the movie "The Texas Massacre chainsaw. ”Brrrr.

Finally
Now readers already have some idea of Dragon game Age: Origins. At the end of the story, you need to say a word about graphics (But who cares about graphics in games of this kind? Plot. Plot! Plot !!!). She is here, like other aspects, at a height, sometimes you will admire the next view of nature or the majestic halls of the gnomes. The grass turns green, the sun shines, and your protege hurts everyone. So it goes.

Outcome
BioWare managed to create burning a world that lives by its own laws and rules. Interesting adventures, an exciting plot and tons of intriguing events will make anyone forget about the existence of the real world for a couple of days and plunge into the unforgettable world of Dragon Age: Origins, where a balance is found between dialogue and combat, complexity and a clear interface, and the enormous work of developers involuntarily wants to applaud. You will return to this world again and again, and each time it will surprise you with something new, and the story will take a completely different turn than before.

P.S. The developers have generously endowed fans of the Dragon Age DLC, which reveals the fate of certain characters, tells about the adventures of your hero that remained outside the main story, and sometimes some pleasant surprises in the form of a new amulet or sword just appear in the game. If you liked the game, you must go through the add-ons, the rest - at will. BioWare also took the trouble to make a full-fledged addon called "Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening". You can import your character there and continue your adventures.

World of Players score 10/10

- very big game... Only to complete the main quest can take from 40 to 60 hours, and if you take into account the secondary tasks, it becomes quite scary. On the way to the final goal, difficulties may arise, which will help to solve our passage. Just to begin with, let's clarify something.

... Dragon Age: Inquisition is a non-linear game. This means that a lot depends on your decisions, as well as on the gender and race of the Inquisitor. BioWare's new project has plenty of forks that will make your story different from ours.

... We only talk about the main quest. Yes, Inquisition has a ton of most interesting tasks, however, describing each of them would take an indecent amount of time. Therefore - only missions from the "Path of the Inquisitor" group.

... Dragon Age: Inquisition is not a quick run. In order to progress through the story, you need to earn points of influence (Power). Most quick way to do this - to complete several secondary tasks. So even if you are not interested in the personal affairs of party members and quests to collect herbs and metals, sometimes you still have to do this.

... The text below contains spoilers. We will try to do without unnecessary plot details, but ... THE KILLER IS A PALACE!

The Wrath of Heaven

The Dragon Age: Inquisition prologue is absolutely linear - even if you want to, you still don't get lost. Follow Kassandra, read the tips carefully and fight weak opponents. There shouldn't be any problems with all this. Soon the path will lead to the elf Solas and the dwarf Varric, your new companions.

After that, you will be taught how to use the tactical pause. In the future, this mode will come in handy more than once, especially at a high level of difficulty, so try to master it as early as possible.

Soon you will come to a break - a place from where in real world demons from the Shadow are infiltrating. To close the gap between the dimensions, you must first destroy all opponents around. After defeating the demons, you need to touch the gap and wait a few seconds, after which it will close. During the passage of the game, you have to close such portals quite often.

After returning to the fortress, you will be presented with a choice: to go to the largest gap in a straight line or in a roundabout way. In the first case, you will get to the next location faster, in the second, you will be able to save the missing soldiers.

Regardless of the path you choose, you will soon find yourself at the ruins of a huge castle. Going down to the gap, you will start the battle with the first boss - Demon of Pride.

There shouldn't be any special difficulties: you will be helped not only by party members, but also by the soldiers of the Inquisition. In the first phase, the boss is invulnerable - note that his health bar looks different from the previously encountered monsters. To make the daemon vulnerable, a rip must be used. Let the boss be distracted by allies, and you press the action button next to the portal. After a couple of seconds, an explosion will thunder and the demon will fall to its knees - then hit it. After a while, it will become impenetrable again - you already know how to fix this. When lesser demons begin to appear on the battlefield, first deal with them, and then interact with the gap.

The Threat Remains

After resting after the battle, go outside. Head towards the church following the sign. Go to the Command Headquarters and complete the game prologue.

After that, you will have time to get used to the headquarters. Use it to learn blacksmithing, talk to your companions, remember the location of the key NPCs. When finished, return to the church. From here you can go to the next location - the Hinterlands in the kingdom of Ferelden. To do this, you can use the command rate or the world map.

A huge number of quests await in the Hinterlands - here you can spend up to 12 hours! Therefore, if you do not want to get confused, mark your priority quests in the journal - then a special beacon will tell you where to go. If you plan to advance as soon as possible on the main task ("The Path of the Inquisitor"), then mark it in the list of quests.

Follow the sign. Soon you will stumble upon a detachment of the Inquisition, which is fighting off the rebellious magicians and templars. They will need your help. After that, you will be invited to a large camp - the main stronghold of the Inquisition in the Hinterlands. Here you need to talk to Giselle's mother, who will send the heroes to a new location.

You can stay in the Hinterlands and get busy completing quests - there are enough of them to earn several levels. Otherwise, return to command headquarters and head to Val Royeaux.

Here again the pointer will help you - follow the beacon. There are very few things to do in this location: after reaching the indicated place, watch the video, meet the templars and then head towards the exit. Before leaving for the headquarters, the spellcaster, the head of the magicians, will speak to you.

Very soon you will have to choose between templars and magicians. Two quests will be available at the command rate: In Hushed Whispers and Champions of The Just. Selecting one of them makes the execution of the second unavailable. To convince the Templars to join the Inquisition, complete Champions of The Just, or if you value the help of mages more, In Hushed Whispers. In our walkthrough, we chose to support the wizards, but you are free to do otherwise.

In Hushed Whispers

Travel to the Hinterlands. Here you need to get to the city of Redcliffe, located in the north of the location. There will be another gap in front of the city gates - deal with it, and you will be allowed behind the walls. Find a tavern in Redcliffe, talk to the sorceress and proceed to the new meeting point - it is very close.

Here you will meet Dorian, one of the potential companions. Close the gap, listen to the mage and go to the headquarters. Here you have to talk with advisers and finally decide who will be more useful allies - magicians or templars. This is the last chance to change your mind.

If you still plan to be friends with wizards, then return to Radcliffe using the command table. Dorian will definitely be in the party, and you can allocate the two remaining slots to other heroes.

What happens next, we will not tell - this is a spoiler. Let's just say that after the cutscenes you and Dorian will find yourself in dungeon. As soon as you regain control, pump the abilities of the magician so that in battle he helps you with spells.

Since you are left alone, move through the dungeon with caution. There are few enemies here, but they do decent damage. It will be easiest if you play as a "tank" warrior. More difficult - if for a melee rogue. Be extra careful when playing as an archer or mage.

Following the markers, you will soon reach a fork. Three points will be marked on the map: two of them indicate the party members who need to be released from prison, and the third will lead you to the sorceress Fiona. First of all, get to the lost allies - the four of them will be much easier. After talking with Fiona, the next part of the task will open - follow the new marker.

To replenish stocks of health potions, look for special storage (they look like boxes with different bottles). New markers will appear on the map that need to be examined. You can move freely within the location and visit targets in any order. Please note that there are multiple levels in this area, so some areas can only be reached by stairs.

Soon, you will stumble upon a locked door. To open it, you need to collect five pieces of red lyrium. Their location is marked on the map. Once you've collected all five, restock your potions and get ready for a boss fight. Alexius.

Alexius uses offensive spells, puts a shield on himself and teleports around the room. In general, the battle with him is simple: let the warrior divert the boss's attention to himself, while the rest of the party deals maximum damage. When he has half his health left, Alexius will disappear, but a gap will appear in the room - you already know what to do with him. Once you close the gap, the boss will return to the battlefield. He will repeat the fade trick at a quarter health.

Will burn in our hearts ... / In Your Heart Shall Burn

After returning to the base, you will be able to chat with allies, get or even complete several tasks, and so on - use this time to complete the case in the Heaven. Please note that you will not return here again.

By activating the next story mission, you will see several cutscenes. Shortly after you regain control of the character, you will meet Cole, another potential party member. It will appear only if you have chosen to help the magicians. Otherwise, Dorian will replace him, and you will meet Cole during the mission for the Templars. Depending on the choice of the side, opponents also change: either magicians or templars will attack you.

In this case, the tasks will be the same. Follow the markers, destroying opponents. You will need to defend one trebuchet and capture another. After that, you will be asked to return to the Vault. Along the way, you can save several characters, which will bring additional experience... After reaching the church, watch the cutscene and return to the battlefield.

Now you need to aim the trebuchet. At the same time, opponents will interfere with the heroes - we advise you to first kill them all and only then take up the guidance. At some point, a boss will appear - a knight Danam.

First, deal with his retinue - a gang of demons. After that, order your "tank" to distract the boss by itself: the monster has quite powerful attacks that leave no chance for the mages of the squad. Keep vulnerable allies behind the boss to minimize damage to them. At 75, 50 and 25 percent of his health, Danam will remove all negative effects from himself and establish a powerful barrier. The battle can be long, but as long as the "tank" holds the defense, distracts the enemy and drinks potions, there is nothing to worry about.

After defeating Denam, a long cutscene will be shown. When you can control your hero again, follow the signs - the path is absolutely linear. Soon you will be taught how to use a new ability, and then the hero will find himself in a snowy desert during a storm. Just go forward and slightly to the right.

From the Ashes

This part of the main quest is very short. You will be offered to walk around the new fortress, explore its main premises and chat with allies. Some sections of Skyhold will be blocked - you can visit them on your next visit to the castle.

After talking with Josephine and Varrick, two main quests will open: Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. evil hearts") And Here Lies the Abyss. They can be performed in any order. Before leaving for one of them, we strongly recommend that you talk to all the party members - you will see and learn a lot of interesting things.

Here Lies the Abyss

After talking with Varric's friend, you will have access to new location- Crestwood. Go to a meeting with an informant. Walk along the coast until you come across a cave - you will go there.

After the conversation, your path lies to another location, Western limit(Western Approach). Follow the directions on the marker. On the spot, you will be shown a cut-scene, followed by a battle with a horde of demons. Due to the relatively small size of the battle arena, it will be useful to use the spell "Mark of the Rift" here. After finishing the fight, return to Skyhold.

From the command headquarters, go to Orlais to continue the mission. Before that, we strongly recommend that you deal with the party's equipment and free up space in your inventory, since you will not return to Skyhold soon.

The marker will guide you through the battlefield. Soon you will receive an optional task - to help the troops of the Inquisition in the battle. It is necessary to destroy three detachments of the Gray Guard, which are assisted by demons. For completing this objective, you will gain access to a chest with valuable loot.

Soon you will face a large crowd of enemies led by the Demon of Pride. First, deal with small opponents, and then take on the mini-boss. Keep vulnerable heroes away from his electric whips. The fight is complicated by a huge dragon, which periodically unleashes spells on your party. Try to disperse allies in the arena to minimize damage.

The marker will not let you get lost here. We advise you to closely monitor the radar: its glow means that somewhere nearby there is an object needed to complete the quest Fears of the Dreamers ("Fears of dreamers"). In the northern part of the first zone, try to find a human skeleton and switch to search mode - this is how you initiate additional task... The other four items are located in other areas of the location. It can only be completed until the end of this section of the game.

To restore your memories, kill the demons and press the action button next to their bodies. To advance in this location, you have to repeat this trick several times. The episode is generally linear - move forward until you face the boss, A nightmare.

Get ready for intense combat. Nightmare has a lot of health and powerful attacks. From time to time, he will summon spiders, which must be quickly destroyed - otherwise they will be overwhelmed with numbers. Let the "tank" hold the boss's attention while the others deal with his minions. As soon as there is respite from small enemies, use the most powerful abilities on the Nightmare. At 25% health, the boss will call for help strong demons Is the best time to use the Mark of the Rift ability. Return to Skyhold after the victory.

Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts

In this mission, two things are more important than ever: the composition of the party and the choice of the correct lines in the dialogues. We advise you to take at least one mage with the Barrier ability in the group, as health potions will be in short supply. When communicating with the nobility, try not to say anything harsh or rude - flatter and agree. And, yes: before starting the mission, save the game to a separate slot.

The specificity of this task is that you will need to turn into a secular lion for a while. Good behavior, courtesy, and small favors for guests will increase the Inquisitor's rating. Long absence or dubious statements downgrade him. When it drops to zero, you will be kicked out of the ball and the mission will fail. So don't miss out on an opportunity to improve your rankings.

The location has something to do besides the main mission. You can collect figurines that open access to loot chests, search for incriminating evidence and much more. At the very beginning of the location, you can help the lady at the gate, who has lost something. The disappearance is at the fountain - use the search mode. By returning it, you will increase your rating - this will be enough for a start.

The marker will indicate the path and characters to talk to. After the official presentation, there will be an opportunity to communicate with the allies and study the situation. When finished, head to the lobby and proceed to the guest rooms. Find the "Hall of Heroes", go through it and exit from the west side. Follow the corridor until you reach the fountain. Here you need to climb to the second floor using a grid on the wall.

Once you're out of sight of the public, your rating will slowly diminish, so act quickly. The marker will mark the area to be searched. When finished, go down the stairs to the library and switch to search mode. After finding the evidence, return to the ball. Don't miss the opportunity to raise your rating a little: only go to the ballroom after the second bell is struck - to know is always a little late, right?

You will receive the Servant Wing Key. You can get there through the lower floor of the Hall of Heroes. Companions will join you at the entrance - do not forget to change their dress clothes for battle gear. You must have at least 10 rating points: every minute you will be deducted from one point, so do not hesitate and deal with opponents quickly. Follow the trail of blood and corpses, and soon you will face the killer. After the battle and cutscene, return to the ball.

The Duchess will invite you to dance. Be as polite as possible - we advise you to always choose the right answer. After speaking with the Duchess, you will have last chance hand over the compromising evidence to Leliana.

Soon you will come to another rift, opened in the courtyard of the castle. Destroy human enemies first, and then deal with demons. The second wave of opponents will be much stronger than the first, so get ready. After that, you will be shown several cut-scenes, they will give you one important decision, and then you will be sent to the battle with the final boss of the location, the same duchess.

First, get rid of her minions. Let the mages put a shield on the party members at the first opportunity. The boss will teleport around the arena - try not to lose sight of it. When the duchess's health drops to 50%, she will summon assistants - deal with them as quickly as possible. Otherwise, this is a fight without surprises.

What Pride Had Wrought

As always, go on a mission through the Command Headquarters. In the first part of the assignment, you only need to go along the markers and fight off the enemy troops. You will soon reach the ancient temple.

After reaching the large locked door, you will receive the task to conduct the ritual. This can be done at the statue on the lower level of the hall. You need to walk on special stoves in order to light them all. You cannot step on plates that have already been activated. The first puzzle shouldn't be a problem - it's pretty simple. After opening the door, proceed deep into the temple.

After the video, you will have a choice: immediately go after the enemies or observe the traditions of the elves and perform four rituals. In the first case, you will have to fight not only with the villain's henchmen, but also with the guards of the temple. In the second case, they will offer four puzzles with plates: by solving them, you will receive the support of the elves and fight with an alternative boss of the location.

After making your choice, follow the markers on the mini-map. If you have completed the rituals, you can team up with the guards against the invaders. In this case, you will be assigned a guide who will show you the way through the location to the boss. If you decide to ignore traditions, then get ready to fight with both elves and templars. You will need to make the path through the maze yourself - watch the radar and use the search mode.

You will face the boss shortly. Depending on the past choice, it will be or Samson(if you chose mages as your allies), or Calperia(if you preferred templars).

Samson only attacks melee. He is assisted by minions, which should be disposed of immediately. When the boss starts spinning, withdraw the fighters. Disperse allies across the battlefield so that Samson's attacks do not hit several heroes at once. Take advantage of the tactical pause - party members are not always good at choosing targets, especially at the beginning of the battle.

Calperia often places fire runes on the floor - you need to run away from them and take allies away from there. She loves to teleport, is immune to stun, paralysis, and fear, and has high fire resistance. Lightning and cold are yours best friends in this battle.

The Final Piece

A very short mission. Go to the altar through the command headquarters. If in the last assignment you allowed your companion to drink from the Well of Sorrow, then you only have to talk to someone. Otherwise, a dragon boss battle awaits you.

If the "tank" distracts the monster's attention to itself, and the ranged fighters do not crawl under the paws and tail of the monster, the battle will pass without any problems. We recommend that you abandon fire attacks, because they do very little damage to the creature. Cold, on the other hand, is very effective. You need to reduce the dragon's health to half, after which the cutscene will begin.

Doom Upon All the World

It's time for the final battle. We recommend that you make a separate save before starting the final mission. You will be able to complete some of the remaining quests after it, however, some of the content will not be available. So if you plan to explore Inquisition inside and out, this is your last chance.

Take at least one mage with the "Barrier" to the battle with the Coryphaeus, and preferably two at once. The boss deals a lot of damage, is immune to status effects and has a huge pool of health, so get ready for a long battle. In the first phase, the villain will summon demons, move around the arena and attack with powerful spells. "Barrier" and health potions will help keep the party on its feet.

After a while, the Coryphaeus will move to new arena- follow him. Don't forget to restock your potions along the way. The second phase is almost no different from the first. Except that the situation is different.

When the boss is at half health, he will be replaced by a huge lyrium dragon. As always, let the Shield Warrior distract the boss while the ranged heroes deal damage to him. Focus the fire on the monster's paws to slow it down. Focus on the healing and protection of heroes with melee weapons: do not spare potions and apply Barrier to them. Let the party spread out across the arena so that the dragon's fiery breath is less dangerous. Don't forget the tactical pause.

Having finished with the dragon, switch back to the Coryphaeus. In the final stage of the battle, he will teleport much more often. In his arsenal, spells will appear that cause damage to the entire squad. "Barrier" and healing potions will help you.

Actually, this is where the main campaign of Dragon Age: Inquisition ends, congratulations! One last tip: Don't miss the post-credits scene!
