    The following changes have been made to the interface elements:

    • Combat Effectiveness Tapes:
      • Added the ability to display two or more ribbons for the same event in battle. For example, when dealing damage to two cars with one shot (or causing damage to two different cars with different shots in a very short period of time), not one tape with the sum of the damage and the name of the machine (the last one on which the damage was caused) will be displayed, but two different tapes with the display of damage to each vehicle. This logic will be implemented for all combat effectiveness ribbons.
      • If the enemy is destroyed, the player does not need to see the tape with the number of "critical" modules of the destroyed vehicle (after the "Destroyed" tape). The display of the "Critical Hit" tape will be disabled in this case.
      • Added a new ribbon "Fall damage" (when inflicting damage to the enemy by the landscape / physics). In the detailed damage log, this event will be displayed separately. Also, this ribbon will be added to the menu with the ability to customize the display.
    • Damage direction indicators:
      • Changed the graphic materials of the indicators of the direction of damage - to unload the combat interface.

    "Strongholds"

    • Battles for Stronghold replaced with new format called "Offensive". This is still a series of battles in the "tug of war" format with three lines for defense, but with a number of significant differences:
      • There is no more plundering of the Stronghold, in case of defeat the clan does not lose anything, and the winner's earnings depend on the level of his own Stronghold.
      • It is no longer necessary to defend the Stronghold 6 days a week. Battles in the mode are conducted only at will.
      • Battles in the mode start at a fixed time, the opponent for the offensive is selected automatically from those available in the queue.
    • The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the obligatory defense of the Stronghold led to significant changes in the economy of the regime. As a result, the Office, which on this moment Mainly used by "top" clans that have earned their authority in battle, it would become available to a significantly larger number of clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the game's economy as a whole.
    • To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a competition system is introduced - "War Games", where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for top places in several nominations.     • IMPORTANT: War Games will start some time after update 9.17.1.

    Germany research tree

    To improve the competitiveness of the German research tree with other nations, we made significant changes to its structure, as well as added several completely new heavy tanks. We've also made some balance adjustments to improve the playability of medium and some premium cars.

    IMPORTANT: Two completely new heavy tanks will appear in the revamped Germany Tech Tree: VK100.01P (Tier VIII) and Mäuschen (Tier IX). If players have already researched the Maus heavy tank, they will be credited as researched.

    Now, after researching the Tier IX VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B, another newcomer is waiting for players - Pz.Kpfw. Vii. Its appearance will in no way affect the experience earned on the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B, all experience earned will remain on this tank.

    The equipment of the Maus tank will also remain unchanged: all equipment, camouflage, emblems and crew members will remain in their rightful places.

    Changes to vehicle characteristics

    Based on feedback from the gaming community, we have made changes to the characteristics of two premium tanks that will undoubtedly become a profitable investment for your capital: the T-34-85M and the FV4202. The changes also affected such vehicles as the T110E5, Grille 15, Centurion Mk and Centurion Mk. 7/1.

    Simplified characteristics block

    In update 9.17.1, the block of simplified characteristics will display information about bonuses received when using equipment activated in battle. In addition, players will be able to see information about the default type of projectile, as well as its characteristics in comparison with other projectiles.

    Comparison of technique

    The changes also affected the technique comparison block. In version 9.17.1, more indicators will be available for comparison: installed equipment, skills and abilities of crew members, equipment and camouflage.

    Detailed Damage Panel

    A detailed damage received panel has been added to the combat interface, which displays information about critical hits received, as well as the type of vehicles and projectiles that were used to inflict damage. The panel will also display ribbons with the amount of damage done, types of shells, critical damage, the name and type of vehicles that caused damage to your vehicle. All this will provide more useful information and will give a chance to deliver a worthy rebuff to the offenders. We removed the simultaneous display of multiple feeds. Now, players can customize the width of dynamic indicators of damage taken, which will depend on the amount of blocked or received damage. Together, these changes will allow players to better understand the situation on the battlefield.

    Platoon spawn system

    The main goal of the platoons is to play together with friends. But in cases where the platoon members are scattered all over the map at the beginning of the battle, one can hardly speak of a high-quality team game. In Update 9.17.1, we fixed this and added efficient logic that will allow platoon members to appear in one place.

    Improvements user interface

    We have improved the vehicle search block and added a search function by vehicle name. In the new update, right in the Garage, on the vehicle panel, players will be able to study additional statistics, including the "Master" badges, the percentage of victories, as well as distinctive marks earned on a particular vehicle. Finally, we have redesigned the interface for personal and daily combat missions, which will allow players to quickly and easily get all the information they need about new and ongoing combat missions.

    Sounds

    In update 9.17.1, we open access to editing the sound files of the game. Using third-party voices or selected sound sets, you can hear exactly what you need in the game. Of course, this will be useful for modders and those who wanted to bring something of their own to the game.

    The next World of Tanks update will be 9.17.1 (yes, it's not 9.18). This is an intermediate patch, but important and small in content. In it we will see such long-awaited ups of some pumped samples, etc.

    What's new in update 9.17.1

    Let's take a look at some of the changes in the 9.17.1 update and what new ones might be added in this patch or carried over to the next.

    Please note: This patch notes for 9.17.1 are not final. Full list will be published just before the release of the update.

    The 9.17.1 Supertest is just around the corner, which will showcase various improvements to a number of game elements, and we are ready to tell you about them in detail. In the update, players will be able to appreciate the improved display of technical characteristics, an expanded damage log, changes to the soundtrack, new elements in the vehicle comparison section, as well as a significant rework of the research tree. Some changes have also been made to the "Strongholds" mode.

    Below is a list of changes where you can get detailed information... We launch the supertest at the early stages of development: as a rule, a month and a half before the release of the version. During the implementation period, we check the changes of the new update and identify the most critical problems before starting open testing... World of Tanks supertests are divided into several stages: project testing (new maps, vehicle balance, etc.) and version testing (set of update elements).

    After the supertest, general tests begin, in which all players can take part.

    Research tree changes

    As noted earlier, we are planning to make a number of changes to the research tree to better match the current version of the game. The 9.17.1 update will simplify the transition to exploration last levels technology, in particular technology from Germany, Japan and the United States. Also some balance issues will be fixed and new vehicles added.

    Full list:

    • Germany

    The Mouse will have logical predecessors - the VK 100.01 (P) and Mäuschen, very similar in gameplay and role on the battlefield, which will replace the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A and VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B. at levels VIII and IX. These will be large, heavily armored tanks with mediocre mobility, but good weapons and excellent armor. "Mouse" is waiting for a significant acceleration of reloading, an increase in the comfort of the gun and an increase in the frontal part of the armor.

    In order not to exclude the "sneakers" (VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A and VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B) from the game, we will transfer them to new branch and put on level X a car that suits their style of play. In terms of gameplay, it will be similar to VK 72.01 (K), which could be obtained as a prize on the Global Map.
    As a result of the revision of the vehicle branches, some characteristics of German heavy tanks will change. In turn, some of the medium tanks of this nation will also be improved. We will publish a full list of balance edits shortly - stay tuned!

    • Japan

    Top "Japanese" Type 4 and Type 5 Heavy are rarely seen on the battlefield. With the current settings of performance characteristics, they simply do not have enough power and firepower to give back.

    On the other hand, Japanese Tier V-VIII heavy vehicles have very effective high-explosive shells. To make the evolution of vehicles smoother and more logical, while preserving the unique feature of the branch, we will give high-explosive shells and guns to top vehicles.

    The "Americans" T28, T28 Prototype and T95 are no longer sufficient in their current gun characteristics and armor to be effective on the battlefield. They lack speed, and we plan to significantly increase it.

    Vehicle balance changes

    We have carefully analyzed combat statistics and made a number of changes to improve the combat characteristics of some tanks. This measure will allow them to confidently resist high-level techniques and will have a positive effect on the game balance:

    • T110E5

    The T110E5 commander's cupola was almost impossible to penetrate with standard shells, except for a small weak spot. We have changed the armor parameters of the turret and equalized the thickness of the armor. The turret is still well protected, but can now be pierced with standard shells.

    • Grille 15

    The engine power, backward speed, and gun depression angles have been changed so that the Grille 15 can better serve as a tank destroyer. By reducing the damage per minute value, Grille 15 is now comparable in efficiency to other vehicles of its tier.

    • T-34-85M

    We have changed the parameters of the gun and armor penetration of the T-34-85M in order to improve the efficiency of the vehicle. After balance adjustments, the tank turned into a less mobile, but more protected analogue of the T-34-85.

    • Centurion Mk. I and Centurion Mk. 7/1

    Both Centurions have become more mobile. The parameters of their guns were also improved in order to secure the place of these vehicles in the ranks of medium tanks.

    • FV4202

    We increased the top speed of the FV 4202 to match the speed of the Centurions.

    Damage bar improvements

    We continue to add useful elements to the game that were previously available to players in third-party modifications. In this version, the damage received panel will be added to the combat interface. It will display tapes showing various events: the amount of damage received, the type of shells, critical hits, as well as the name and type of equipment that caused damage to your vehicle. At the same time, we will remove ribbons that were of little use: ribbons of recurring events and messages in the damage panel will now only display the total amount of damage caused by a burst of shots.
    Finally, in version 9.17.1 we will add a new setting that will allow you to adjust the width of the dynamic damage indicators, which show the amount of damage taken and blocked by your vehicle. These changes will make it easier to assess the ever-changing combat situation and allow you to quickly change your playstyle.

    Comparison of technique

    We've reviewed your requests to expand the list of parameters for technique comparison and added new parameters to version 9.17.1. Now players will be able to add to the comparison various equipment, skills and abilities of the crew, equipment and camouflage.

    Changes to the "simplified" performance characteristics

    In the game you have to choose from more than 450 pieces of equipment, so it is very important to provide the most complete information about each vehicle. This applies to both already purchased vehicles and vehicles that the player plans to research and purchase. In update 9.17.1, we are introducing the display of simplified characteristics, which will give the player much more information when learning a technique. Equipment activated in battle and also affecting the combat characteristics of the vehicle (for example, Stereo Pipe and Camouflage Net) will be displayed in the usual way. In addition, the player will see the values ​​of bonuses from the installation of certain equipment.

    Also, by popular demand, we have replaced the ranges of values ​​for "damage with a basic shell" and "penetration with a basic shell" with average values ​​for each parameter. They will be displayed in the Garage and in the vehicle preview mode. The current ranges of values ​​will still be displayed in tooltips.

    Finally, more information will be available to players when choosing the types of projectiles. The default projectile type will be marked in the tooltip when you hover the mouse over it, and you can examine its characteristics (in comparison with other types) exactly in the tooltip, which will greatly facilitate the selection of the most optimal ammunition for battle.

    Fortifications

    The format of battles for the Stronghold will be replaced with a new one called "Offensive". This is still a series of tug-of-war with three lines of defense, but with a number of significant differences:

    • There is no more plundering of the Stronghold, in case of defeat the clan does not lose anything, and the winner's earnings depend on the level of his own Stronghold.
    • It is no longer necessary to defend the Stronghold 6 days a week. Battles in the mode are conducted only at will.
    • Battles start at a fixed time, the opponent for the offensive is selected automatically from those available in the queue.

    The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the obligatory defense of the Stronghold significantly changed the economy of the regime. As a result, the Chancellery, which is currently mainly used by the "top" clans that have earned their authority in battle, would become available to a significantly larger number of clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the game economy as a whole. To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a competition system is being introduced - "War Games", where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for prizes in several nominations. Winners of the top places will be rewarded with gold, advanced reserves and other awards.

    IMPORTANT: War games start some time after update 9.17.1.

    The battle room, both in sorties and offensives, can be opened for legionnaires who can join your squad (as in team or company battles). The list of open battle rooms will be available to everyone in a special interface.

    Sounds

    Great news for all fans of non-standard sounds in the game! With update 9.17.1, access to audio files will be open. Players who have previously used third-party mods will now be able to customize any game sound to their liking.
    As for the game itself, in 9.17.1 there will be a transition to the improved Wwise 2016.2.

    Improved mini-maps

    Mini-maps have been redesigned: "Sacred Valley", "Prokhorovka" and "Tank Range" (for the "Combat Training" mode).

    Major changes:

    1. In the swampy part of the location, a ford with islands overgrown with grass has been added. Near the islands, there are enough convenient positions for firing at vehicles in the area of ​​the railway bridge.
    2. The perimeter of the swamp has been improved, and new positions have been added to control the central part of the location, as well as to fire at long distances.
    3. Defensive positions have been slightly improved in the area of ​​the upper base.
    4. The river bed has been reworked for more comfortable interaction with the bog.

But don't worry, the armor penetration is set up in such a way in order to exclude "hits in one go." The frontal projection of the turret has been strengthened, the armor in the vulnerable points of the hull has been strengthened, and the armor in the upper part has also been increased.
    The tank can be obtained at level 9; in the update, the round protruding clutches were removed in both tank models.
